Hypo-allergenic, Non-irritating Foundation - Prepare to Shine

4

Almay Pure Blends Makeup Foundation was both a lifesaver and a disaster for me. One one hand, this foundation is full of soothing, natural ingredients that never irritated my sensitive skin. Ever. To me, that was a huge plus, because I was frustrated with my skin at the time and hoping to find something that worked. The bad news is that this foundation is very shiny, full of soothing and moisturizing oils. While my skin was never dry when I wore this foundation, it was also always shiny and supple. In fact, I became convinced that I had really oily skin after using this product for years, and always had to blot heavily and powder my nose, forehead, and T zone repeatedly throughout the day. It was only after I switched to another product, that I realized it was the foundation and not my skin that was oily. To cap it all off, this foundation is effective, has good coverage, is easy to apply and blend on to your skin, layers well, but moisturizes the skin a little too well, unfortunately. I'd still recommend it as an expensive, non-irritating product, but make sure you stock up on blotting papers and face powder.

I did not like this makeup at all

1

This makeup was very greasy!! After a few uses, when I would try to get the makeup out, all that would come out of the tube was a clear, oily substance!! I really wanted to like this product because it is more natural than other products on the market but it just didn't meet my expectations!! Very disappointing!!

Almay Pure Blends Makeup: separates in bottle, oily finish

2

I bought this product about a month ago because it is similar to another drugstore product I use, and I saw that it was on sale. I have very fair skin and usually wear foundation daily to even out my skintone. I then use some concealer to hide undereye circles and any blemishes. Some people seem to think that there is not enough coverage with this product - but I think it is the perfect amount. I also like that it has a sunscreen built in. However, my main gripe with this is that it leaves skin feeling oily. Even when I use pressed powder to set the foundation, it still has an oily residue, and therefore rubs off really quickly during the day. I also noticed that if i don't shake the tube vigorously before squeezing out some product, the foundation will separate into a layer of oil (that i would guess holds the sunscreen) and a layer of color. I would not buy this product again, and especially not at full price.

Not impressed with Pure Blends Foundation

2

I am not that impressed with this foundation as I recently purchased it for the first time as I got a good deal on it and I was out of foundation. I am always willing to try new products and thought I might like this.  It is not terrible, it is just not that great. The consistency of the foundation is the worst part- it is very liquidy and often comes out of the tube uneven- like the color of the foundation is separated from the base. You MUST shake this foundation really well before squeezing any out. Also- I do not feel that it gives very good coverage. It is better as a cover up than anything but does not help to even out your skin tone. I would not recommend this to others based on the two reasons of consistency and lack of adequate coverages. It may be a better summer makeup because of the extremely light coverage. Overall- try another product, not worth the money. Would not recommend.

Almay pure blends foundation was just ok.

3

I was excited when Almay came out with a more natural line of cosmetics.  I purchased a tube of this foundation, a long with a blush and eye shadow.  I really liked the foundation at first.  It goes on smooth and feels very light.  It blends nice into my skin and the color seemed just right for me.  It didn't make me break out with acne or over dry my skin either, so I think the moisture content is probably just right.  I do tend to have skin that can be a bit sensitive to products from time to time, and this, unfortunately was one of them.  It made my skin itch for some reason.  That was disappointing.  I did try to continue using it, buy finally gave up.  I don think it is a fine product - more natural than most.  I don't believe it contains any parabens either, which is a plus.  I'm not sure if I would have continued using this foundation had my skin not reacted.   It did give me a nice, fresh, natural look.  It wasn't bad, but it was outstanding either.  It was just ok.  I have since found a very natural one that works better for me.

Almay Pure Blends help to hide blotchy skin

4

I have thin skin on my face and it tends to get blotches sometimes. Almay pure blends seems to help hide the uneven skin tones with a natural and not too heavy application. I find the texture refreshingly light and after applied there is no heavy looking product that I find in some other products. I don't like to look overly made-up. And I don't wear heavy make-up but do wear a little foundation, blush, and mascara everyday. The tones of the Pure Blends foundation are pleasing and seem to blend in seamlessly with my skin tone without leaving tell-tale signs around the jawline. It is long lasting and non-drying but it does come off easily if rubbed. Portions of my face are dry so a moisturizing foundation is a must. There seems to be no problem with melting foundation in the Florida heat which can be a problem in high-hot humidity areas of the country like Florida. I am fairly pleased with most apsects of Almay Pure Blends and would recommend it for a person wanting light natural looking coverage.

Almay Pure Blends feels smooth and looks flawless

5

The Almay Pure Blends Makeup Foundation is perfect for covering up my undereye circles and touching up splotchy skin. I love that the foundation is so light - I don't feel cakey or greasy even after an entire day of wear. The makeup is light enough not to sink into the creases around my eyes and illuminates my under eye circles. I finish the look with Almay powder and love that the combination doesn't weigh my skin down and still looks natural. When on sale, the price is moderate. I have very sensitive skin and the natural ingredients don't make my skin itch or breakout. I can even leave this product on through a workout without having any reaction. The finish (even without the powder) is natural and not too shiny. This product is long wear as I have even used it to cover up a noticable scratch on my chin once and the foundation held strong and covered the scratch all day. This product does well to match to my skin color.

Disappointed

2

I try to purchase makeup that is organic or natural and does not contain all of the harmful chemicals so I was happy to find this product.  At first the make up was fine - it was light, went on smoothly and looked great.  Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks the makeup started to separate in its tube and would come out as mostly an oily liquid with a little bit of beige color not even mixed in.  When this started to happen, I checked the expiration date on the product thinking that maybe I had purchased a tube that was "old"; however, the expiration date was over two years away.  I tried shaking the tube to try to mix the contents, but it didn't work.  Not wanting to waste an almost full tube of makeup, I continued to use it until my face started breaking out due to all of the oil.  I discontinued use and will not be buying this product again.  I was extremely disappointed because I've always been happy with Almay products before.

For a natural option, this is pretty fantastic.

I am always looking for natural options in makeup and hate ordering pricey brands online.  When I heard that Almay had started a natural line; I immediately went out and found it at my local drugstore.  First bonus - I can get it when I'm out doing errands or shopping and I do not have to pay shipping charges. First I'll talk about ingredients before performance.  I think it is absolutely necessary for my foundation to have SPF; Almay Pure Blends has SPF 20.  The packaging states that it is 97.4% from natural ingredients.  It is free of talc and added parabens; plus it is fragrance free and hypoallegenic.  All those things are bonuses for me. Now for performance; I think it looks wonderful on and really smooths out my complexion.  However, be sure that you shake the bottle before you put it on because if you don't; it can come out separated (the color and the liquid base).  I use just about a dime and a half and make sure that I work it into my skin really well and not only does it leave my skin flawless but it looks as if nothing is there. The only con is the separation but with a little shaking beforehand; it's a non-issue.  Plus the container is made from  35% post consumer recycled material; another bonus.  If you're looking for a good "natural" foundation and are sick of paying shipping charges - try Almay - you won't be sorry.

Impressed by ingredient list

4

I'm quite happy with the ingredient list of this foundation, since it does contain nice natural ingredients and avoids the use of heavy silicones.  The foundation itself goes on more like a tinted moisturizer.  The coverage is sheer but can be built up lightly.  The finish is very natural and yet dewy which may not work for oiler skin types.  A powder can be used to create a more matte finish.  This foundation feels nice on my skin and seems to make it look and feel softer.
