Almay Intense iColor Powder Shadowreminds me of those clothes called Garanimals.  Remember those?  They were tops and bottoms with a little animal on the tag.  If the animal on the top and the bottom match, then the kids knows that he or she has a matching set.  It helps them to figure out how to match clothes and not go to school looking like clowns dressed them. Well Almay Intenst iColor eyeshadow is kind of that same concept but with makeup.  Unfortunately the result is not the same and if you use this product you risk having your friends, family and co-workers wondering if clowns made up your eyes.

I have used other Almay products in the past and have been pretty happy with them so I'm surprised that I didn't like this one.  While the colors apply very smoothly and the color is nice and intense, the finish is pearly and shimmery which just doesn't look good on anyone over the age of 15.

Almay Intense iColor Powder Shadowconsists of three eyeshadows that are supposed to match whatever eye color you have so there is no guessing which colors are best for you.  I have hazel eyes that sometimes look very green so I actually picked up two of the collections as they were buy one get one free; one for hazel eyes and one for green.

About Intense iColor eyeshadow, Almay.com says the following: 3 beautiful, shimmering shades. 1 intense look. These shadows are selected specifically to intensify your eye color. Just choose from the trios for brown, blue, green or hazel eyes- it's that easy. Light and deep complementary shades enhance your eye color, contrasting shades make it pop. These silky powder shadows blend on smoothly and evenly. Long-lasting color pigments stay put all day and won't fade or crease. Bring out your eye color even more with Intense i-ColorTM eyeliner and lengthening mascara.

The brown collection consists of light brown, brown, and lilac. The green trio consists of light green, dark green, and a medium lilac. The hazel trio consists of buff, cocoa brown, and soft pink. The blue trio consists of light blue, dark blue, and and cocoa.

After all these years of using makeup I'm pretty good at picking the right colors for my skintone and eye color.  But the BOGO deal, the matchy matchy concept, and the coupon I found in my Sunday paper got the best of me and I had to try this product.  It's nice to have all the coordinating colors in one compact too.

For starters the little foam brush that comes with this eyeshadow is tiny and scrathy like sandpaper. I got rid of that and used a brush instead.  I have to admit that both the hazel and green collections looked really good on me.  The colors were good with my skintone but the finish was way too shimmery for my liking and I felt like I looked like a member of ABBA and I was stuck in 1982.  My mom has hazel eyes as well and tried this eyeshadow but it looked absolutely ridiculous on her as her skin coloring is completely different from mine.  I take after the paternal Russian side of the family with light skin and red hair and she has the Italian Native American ruddy skin with dark hair look and she looked horrible.  So just because it matches your eye color doesn't mean it will look good with your skin tone.

NOT recommended.
