Alli Fat Burner Diet Pills —

What works for one person, may not necessarily work for another.  I am a fine example of that!  A girl I work with was taking Alli diet pills and raved about how great they worked.  Although I couldn't see a bit of difference in her weight, she insisted she had lost a total of fifteen pounds in a little over a month.  So, I went out and bought a bottle of the pills.

What I liked about the program is that Alli doesn't want to starve you to death.  They want you to eat, but eat healthy foods in moderation.  Which was fine for me.  I like healthy choices.  The plan encourages you to limit your choices of fatty foods or food that is high in calories.  Not a problem.

First off, let me tell you that the Alli diet plan comes with an instructional booklet the size of the Bible!  Who has time to read all of that?  So, maybe my poor results were partly my fault.  I simply do not have the time to read all the information that came with the pills.   I didn't realize I would be asked to take a virtual course in the usage of the Alli diet!

So, for the results.  I lost nothing but a lot of.......stool.  There.  I said it.  I was under the impression that if I watched my calorie intake and avoided fatty foods, that I wouldn't suffer from the weird side effects I had heard about.  I was wrong.  This bottle of Alli was not playing around with me!!!!

The side effects that I had heard about were all correct.  At least for me they were.  Here's a little sample of what I, and many others, have endured with this product.

  • Oily, loose stool
  • Frequent urge to go to the bathroom (and I don't mean #1)
  • An URGENT urge to go to the bathroom (again, not  #1)
  • Severe flatulence

One important side effect that I, thankfully, did not have was anal leakage.  But it's been reported to have happened to some of the users of Alli.  (It has been reported that some users have had to wear several pairs of underwear while using this product!)  How horrible is that?  The side effects are bad enough that I quit using Alli after just a few days.  NO WAY is losing weight that important to me!  I have a life to live outside of the bathroom.

Under no circumstances would I recommend this product to anyone.  The abdominal cramps that I encountered while using Alli were reminiscent of the cramps I endured during labor!

To be fair, I will note that I have had my Gall Bladder removed.  I have no idea if this would cause my body to react to the drug in the way that it did, but for the sake of being completely honest I thought I would mention it.

Damn! I guess whent hey said Tyra went on herself about two yrs ago was true. Said she was taking Alli also. This is just ridicolous. I say just train yourself to excercise regularly and eat right. Not worth it AT ALL!

I had looked into this a while ago and Alli advised to "wear dark pants when starting to take this product" and I thought ... NO THANKS!!! I'd rather be fat! Thanks for the great review!

Anal leakage. *snort* Yeah, I heard that about these pills too and thought, "umm... no thanks."

Yeah, Anna - it reminds me of Olestra, too! Maybe they should put these pills in the category of "sliders." I was never tempted by these pills because of the severe flatulence and anal leakage warnings. Who wants to be in an elevator with THAT person?

Sorry you suffered Jasyjen. Thanks for the warning.

Oh YAH, I really LOVE this review! This sounds like that fat-blocker stuff that is in a certain kind of potato chip out there.

Thanks, Kat. I think it's so funny because everyone can relate to something like this happening to them at some point in time! :-)

Jasyjen, that was the most hillarious review I've ever read. I'm still laughin'! OMG! Well, that does it for any thoughts of using Alli. I already go enough. Don't need to go anymore! I guess that's TMI, but it's the truth. Thanks for your review and a good laugh! kat2

Yes, having no gallbladder is most likely why you had issues with the pill. My best friend had hers removed too and she didn't like the pill either. I've dealt with the oily stool but that was only after I ate something too fatty, so I had to deal with the consequence. So to help me with that I decided to eat less fatty foods and cut all my food in half. I do like the fact that Alli tries to control your hunger.

Many, many people have reported these side effects. The fat is flushed out but who wants to live like THAT? Anal leakage. GAH. That's enough for me to put down the Twinkie and not take the pills. lol. Sorry you went through that. Ugh.

I have a friend that used this in conjunction with weight watchers -- as she said better a quick meeting that following that bible . . . she has similar however not as severe effects. She also lost some weight, but as soon soon as she quit using it it all came back. Like this2, I need to lose the weight that three pregnancies in 3 years did -- not to mention the several times daily progesterone. I would like to try this, but don't want to spend $60.00 a month as well as try to chase the girls down to only have an attack of the runs. Great review and good warning for those considering it. Think I am going back to the natural appetite suppressants.

And this will mess up a recovering anorexic up! I still have a bottle with about 8-10 capsules in my cabinet. I hid the kit and all so my family wouldn't know what my latest diet regimen consisted of. My dr. would die if she knew I had gotten my hands on this product. But hey, it was FDA approved so I felt safe even though she wanted me to gain 12-15 lbs. :+[

I didn't have the bad cramping but I had the adverse side effects with the #2 ordeal. I always wear pantiliners so that would safeguard against a mishap but it was scary just thinking it could happen. I have watched fat intake a lot on my own but noticed the effects if I did choose to eat a burger. My system adjusted within about 5-10 days and then I did okay with it.

Bottom line: I lost about 6 lbs. in 2 weeks without losing my bottom! I am not really sure why I quit taking it besides the fact that I didn't want to sink $60 into a diet plan every month.

Thought to ponder: "Ever feel like the bottom's falling out of your world? Well, take Alli and you'll feel like the world's falling out of your bottom." See, we can still laugh but if you laugh to hard while on Alli something might come out the poop shoot ;+) ~Gigi

I was interested in this despite all of the negative side effects - I'm dying to get rid of baby weight from a year ago! The only thing stopping me is the hefty price tag. Thanks for your honest review!
