Allen's Clam Bar - New Gretna, NJ Reviews

I was compelled to amend the following review after a recent visit and based upon other's most recent visits.

I'm not sure what has happened to Allan's.  It is still owned and operated by the same people; same cooks, same waitress', but wow, the quality just deteriorated to zilch!

We went a couple of weeks ago based on friends recent visits and their complaints.  Could it be?  We needed to see for ourselves. 

The food was all around horrible.  I ordered flounder which had a funky taste; my husband ordered the broiled platter which has been scaled back, which isn't so bad, but he also...

I left Jersey back in 1974 and don't get back very often.  My wife and I live in Florida now and are planning a trip back to NJ next month (10/09).  First and foremost the trip is about family but since we're there I have to make a stop at Allen's.  Only been there twice over the past 7 years but both times the food was excellent and service was very good.  There's nothing fancy about the place but that's okay.  Food more than makes up for any lack of atmosphere.  Besides, the people I'm with always add to the experience.  Wished I could base my opinions upon more than just two visits but...
