When I was a kid, my mother planned her menus for the full month and wrote them on a calendar hung on the fridge. Fast forward two decades...I can build mine on allrecipes.com. Allrecipes.com is a multi-layered site: in the most basic use of the site, you can search their site for the title of any recipe. Want to get more specific? You can search for ideas based on ingredients you do and don't want for your dish. if your pantry looks like mine, full of random cans that I can't think of a use for, all you have to do is type in the choices you have, and the site identifies recipes that match what you have on hand. Most recipes have photos. In addition to recipes, there are how-to articles to help out those of us who are not culinary genuises.
Recipes can be altered to suit your needed quantity and measurements are available in metric or US. If you're concerned about your health, each recipe offers the nutritional information so you can make sure your dietary concerns are addressed. Once you find a favorite, it can be shared or emailed to your friends or social networking sites.
The home page has an easy-to-use layout that enables you to search for any recipe based on what type of dish you are making (appetizers, breads, vegetarian, etc.). The great thing about this website is that everyone from someone with limited skills in using the Internet to those who are online more than they're not can find exactly what they need on this site with no difficulty.
I recommend becoming a member of the site. As a member, you can share your own recipes, and you gain additional access to other resources. I now have an online cookbook of recipes that I like on the site at the touch of a button, without having to search the site again and question, "Which of the 30 scone recipes WAS it that I liked?" Even more of a time-saver...you can build your shopping list based on the recipes you've selected, print it out, and it's not only is ready to go, but you can organize it by grocery aisle! No more walking around the store three times for items I forgot on my first two trips around!
Since you're on Viewpoints, this one will be of interest to you...every recipe can be rated and reviewed. This is a HUGE help in figuring out how whether a recipe is worth trying or not and any alterations that can be made to improve the outcome. So drop the phone...no more Chinese, no more pizza delivery...go to allrecipes.com and cook something!!!
