Sunrise, sunset, quickly go the years and then one day, suddenly you have sensitive skin!  At least, that is what happened to me and (excuse me as I haul my violin out) suddenly I also seem to be subject to unexpected, volatile skin rashes.  Visiting a dermatologist during a catastrophic outbreak had limited results and I must admit it is a little disquieting to have a doctor stare at whatever problem you have and say enthusiastically "Well, isn't that the DAMNDEST thing!"  Nobody really seems to know why I break out more than I use to and washing everything that comes in contact with my poor old hide in hot water with an extra rinse cycle doesn't seem to help either.  So I was interested when I recently received in the mail a sample for All Free Clear Laundry Detergent.  I stared at the sample and thought to myself "Well, isn't that the DAMNDEST thing!" then decided to give it a try.

I used my sample to wash my lingerie in hot water with the extra rinse cycle.  Meanwhile, I sat down in the Laundry Room and read the scant but interesting information which had come with the free sample.  Unless someone is lying, it appears that All Free Clear Laundry Detergent is hypoallergenic, fragrance and dye free, washes away common allergens such as dust mites (this could WELL be one of my problems!) and is available in either 2x Ultra or 3x Concentrated All Small & Mighty

Especially interesting was the information about sensitive skin in general which included these tips:

We should try to use products free of dyes and perfumes as a general principle ...

Best to take lukewarm showers and pat skin dry as hot water can actually wash away skin's natural oils, leaving it extra dry and itchy.  (This may be an area where I have been screwing up as I have been showering in water which was as hot as I could stand.)

We should keep our skin hydrated by using moisturizers with high concentrations of emollients perhaps coupled with having a humidifier in the home.

MY VIEWPOINT:

Even if it had not been free (always a good feeling!), I liked the job that All Free Clear Laundry Detergent did on my clothes.  Although I am a devout fragrance lover, I enjoyed the fresh "smell" of clean laundry and nothing else.  Maybe I'll even give some of those helpful suggestions a try!  Who knows, maybe I could actually get through a whole year without a major outbreak of some kind and if that happened then I would be the first to admit:  "Isn't that the DAMNDEST thing!"

Hi, HappyMomma! (What a great screen name!) Thanks for reading my review and leaving a comment. It DOES help to feel that someone else is coping with the same type of thing. Good luck to you and maybe All Free and Clear will work for ya!

Take care!

Don't feel bad. I never had problems until I hit my mid thirties. It seems now anything with heavy perfumes gives me rashes and stuffs up my nose. It's weird how body chemistry can change over time. Thank you for the insightful review. It is appreciated.

Been there with the rash. I switched to fragrance and dye free laundry products years ago. Sometimes I break out from whatever they use on the sheets at hotels. Recently we've been using this product with successful results. Have you also switched to the fragrance free drier sheets yet? Great review, Anna!

I thought of you, J-J, because of that wonderful review you wrote that time about the dyes in certain things and how some people are allergic to them. How are you doing tonight? I don't use dryer sheets but LoveisJoy mentioned that she had tried some sort of softener that was sort of a match to this detergent. Have a nice weekend and thanks for checking in. You're such a good friend.

All Free Clear is the only detergent I use, it gets the VERY odiferous bacteria I exude (using cold water!) and doesn't trigger my perfume allergies. I also use fragrance-free dryer sheets.

No kidding, this rash thing can be a real nuisance. When it comes on, I feel sort of feverish too and not so well. It just seems to come on, without warning! Hope you are feeling better, George. My guess is that you might still be a little achy now and then where you were hurt in y our accident. I know you are eager to get back out there and all -- and may be up to it by now -- but please be careful!

Well, I hope you get whatever it "bugging" you. ;>

You know, when I got this thing in the mail I remembered that you had written a review about something like this, but I couldn't remember what it was. It wasn't too long ago either. Hope you guys are staying warm tonight! Darned, if it isn't getting too cold too soon for me but then these days EVERYTHING seems to be happening too soon for me! What do you think The Bard is going to bake for you guys this weekend? I know you have other reviews out there I haven't read yet -- sometimes a person just gets on a writing roll and this is what has been happening to me lately. Well, take care!

LOL...I agree, it's not the most comforting thing when you've clearly stumped the doctor. I once bought a fragrance and dye-free fabric softener (can't remember the brand), which would be a good companion to this detergent.
