All About Me Review

All About Me is described as a journal for self-discovery and self-revelation, and it is.  However, it is also a journal that allows you to share your discoveries, revelations, and life lessons with loved ones.   It is a way to record and provide answers to the kinds of questions we think about when it's too late ask.  Now that I'm older, I have so many questions of my deceased grandmother that I never thought to ask when I was younger.  As much as I enjoy gathering genealogy data, it is the stories behind the names, dates, and relationships that provide the greatest fulfillment.   For instance, it's one thing to know that my grandmother moved from the Deep South to the North; it's more interesting to know why.  How did it feel to move to a strange city with an infant and a new husband?  Was she anxious or excited?  Did she have any regrets?  Those are the kinds of in-depth revelations that this book can help flesh out.

I gave my mother this book--All About Me--as a way to record her thoughts about her life.  By taking the time to answer the wide ranging questions, she has given our family a priceless gift.
