There's no tactful way for me to say this so Iet me just be honest. I have a sensitive stomach. Things coffee and rich foods tend to give me an upset stomach. But I love coffee and rich foods. Since I lack the self-discipline to keep myself from consuming these things I always have a couple Alka-Seltzer Antacid Pain Relief Medicine Effervescent Tablets on hand. What I like about Alka Seltzer is it works great for a variety of issues. Heartburn, upset stomach, gas, it helps all of them. And it doesn't gum up the works like other stomach medicines like Pepto Bismol and Immodium. Alka Seltzer comes in a variety of flavors but I choose regular unflavored. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the flavored version but they're more expensive and, since I use Alka Seltzer quite a bit, I've gotten used to the somewhat bitter unflavored version. If you don't care for the flavor I've found it helps to drink it in very cold water. Basically, Alka Seltzer works great.

Alka Seltzer is a good product. It by no means is a miracle cure but it works enough for me to reccommend. I usually use it when I'm trying to alleviate hangover symptoms. It helps in curing headaches and upset stomach issues. It is very simple to use. All that you need to do is put some water in a cup then drop the tablet in. It fizzes for a bit, which is actually kind of fun to watch, then you drink it. It tastes refreshing as well. It has a nice fizzy bubbly feeling going down and you may burp a little. I can't give it 4 or 5 stars because it does seem sort of mild. I usually take an ibuprofin as well because just the Alka Seltzer won't do it alone. It might work on the stomach issues in part to a placebo effect. By no means am I saying Alka Seltzer is a placebo because you can read about the active ingredients on the box but there is definitely some mind power at work when I take this.

My father swore by alka seltzer tablets. He took these fizzy disks for everything. Every ailment coming and going.  Being more involved in my health, I took a look at these.  Basically what you are paying a much larger price for is an aspirin, whether it be Bayer or a generic, and fizz.  Citric Acid and Baking soda provide the fizz.  Seriously.  Why pay this much when you can pick up a bottle of about 200 aspirins and about 5 2-liter bottles of an efferessant soda.  That would go just as far, and would have the benefit of having a much better taste, too.

Althought this does work quite well for general pain such as headaches or sore throats, to me it tastes utterly awful, nauseatingly so. I'd much rather use some other sort of pill or chewable form of pain medication instead of this, as it takes a long time to get the taste out of your mouth. I don't know how to describe it, but it isn't pleasant. To me, there are much easier and likely more affordable, as well as medications with a better taste that would do the same thing, without having to have a cup of water around to let it sit in for a bit and dissolve. It helps the pain a bit, but the taste, the taste is something that I would not recommend at all, perhaps a liquid alternative would be better for someone who uses this as they're uanble to swallow pills. There are countless medicines out there for pain relief, this is one of the few that I cannot stand due to the taste and the awful aftertaste, which is as long lasting and unpleasant as the taste of this alka-seltzer itself.

My Brother in law who has passed on could not live without Alka-Seltzer.  It cures everything from the comon cold to a Hang-over as he would say.  He kept a stock of Alka-Seltzer in his home.  If he were to run out he would panic.  There is no other medicine that can do what Alke-Seltzer can do. I keep a supply in my home also.  Would not be without it. As the saying goes flop flop fiz fiz oh what a relief it is.

I was getting a lot of heartburn and had all of the symptoms of GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease). It was so painful it was keeping me from sleeping at night and interfered with my work and daily activities. Even bending over was painful. I tried all of the common and well known antacid remedies and tablets but none of them helped. I even tried using baking soda and water but the taste was so bad I couldn't stand to take it more than once. I thought maybe something much worse than heartburn was wrong so I went to my doctor and got a full check up and he gave me all kinds of tests. My doctor said there was nothing wrong with me accept Iwas eating too many rich and fatty foods and I was eating too much late at night, and he said I should reduce spices. Well, that's all the stuff I love - eating late at night on the weekends while watching TV is what gives me pleasure. And I love spicy food. So I asked the doctor what he would recommend if the symptoms continued and he suggested Alka-Seltzer. I was shocked; I thought he was going to try to get me to take one of those expensive new prescription pills. But he said no need; he used Alka-Seltzer himself for years and recommends it for those with basic heartburn. So I tried it and it worked!!! And it worked very fast. I was amazed but now it's my old standby any time I eat too much or too much fatty foods (every weekend). I highly recommend trying this before putting expensive prescriptions in your body that have so many bad side effects. Of course you should always check with your doctor before you take any medicine, even over the counter meds.

Alka Seltzer is one of the most versatile remedies on the market. It works on numerous ailments like headaches, upset stomachs, menstrual cramps and is useful for cold relief. The original is not the best tasting quaff but well worth a few seconds of bad taste for the relief offered. This is truly a wonder product that has been around for a very long time and still works as claimed!

I have acid reflux from thyroid medication I have to take on a daily basis. I have tried so many medications, even prescriptions ones but to no avail. Finally in desperation, I decided to try good ole alka seltzer that I had seen my dad use when I was growing up. Much to my surprise the heartburn went away and I was able to get a good nights sleep for the first time in weeks. Since that time, I use the alka seltzer on a daily basis, the doctor said it is okay for me to take and it doesn't interfer with my thyroid medicaiton. So many meds bother me with the meds I already have to take for my condition. I relieves upset stomach also and I have come to carry it with me at all times. I can never be without this stuff. I have tried generic and they don't work the same way as alka seltzer. Skip the generic and go for the real thing, it really does settle your stomach and stop hearburn in it's tracks. I am sold on this for life.

This is a miracle - if you have heartburn, hungover, headache... Take one or two of those, put it in the glass on nice cold water, meditate on the bubbles, and then drink. In 30 minutes you will feel a totally different person. i am not sure what makes the difference - bubbles maybe?

I had gotten sick with the flu a month ago and had no medicine in the house and the only thing I had was alkazer tablets for pain and antacid. I could not believe how fast that medecine took my body aches, nausea, and stomach pain away. I was really impressed and now I make sure I have plenty of these around the house because it did wonders for me. I felt great and was able to go Black Friday shopping early in the morning.
