Alison Krauss - A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection Review Summary

Most in the community agree that Alison Krauss’s latest solo release A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection is a fitting addition to the artists’ repository of Bluegrass immersed music. One reviewer exclaimed that “Alison has one of the most crystal clear voices anywhere!” while another stated that the album was “A mixed bag.” A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection is an eclectic CD wherein Ms. Krauss collaborates with such notable and diverse artists as James Taylor, Brad Paisley, and John Waite. But despite this multiplicity of musical talent Krauss never strays far from her Bluegrass roots. One reviewer really enjoyed the CD, stating “I enjoy every song on this CD, especially the duets with James Taylor and John Waite.” Read the reviews of this album and also check out what our community has to say about other Alison Krauss CD, including Alison Krauss and Union Station (AKUS) - Lonely Runs Both Ways and AKUS-Alison Krauss and Union Station Live.

Bottom-Line: Alison Krauss does it again with something(s) barrowed, something(s) new and something(s) blue.

A lithe voice; that is the trademark of Alison Krauss, the face of this country's Blue Grass genre of music.  But with that voice and the blonde locks comes an undeniable charm and genuine cadence that is hard to resist; hence her success, mostly with her band Union Station

A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection, which contains a total of 16 tracks, is not your usual release.  The CD contains a scarcity of new tracks, nor is it a "Greatest Hits compilation.  The...

I've never been a huge fan of Alison Krauss because although I think she has a beautiful voice, her style of music was not my thing, or so I thought.  I was fliping through channels on TV one Sunday afternoon, and ran across a show or infomerical promoting this CD.  It grabbed me so strongly that I bought the CD the next day!

I enjoy every song on this CD, and especially the duets with James Taylor and John Waite. "Lay Down Beside Me" makes me cry everytime I listen.  Even so, I love this CD!

I was first "introduced" to  Alison Krauss when she was around sixteen years of age. It was at an outdoor Bluegrass festival in Zimmerman, Minnesota. I remember this concert very well. And, I remember how this beautiful, talented, young girl captivated her audience as we listened in awe to her play her fiddle. Her talent was truly an inspiration to all who heard her play; her energy and her passion for her music was apparent in her ability to "WOW" her audience beyond their wildest expectations!

She was a remarkable fiddler and her music made my heart want to dance, but her angelic voice...

I am a huge fan of Alison Kraus. Her talent is amazing, and, being a professional singer myself, I am very particular when it comes to musical talent. I think Alison is blessed with a God-given ability, not only as a singer, but also as a writer, instrumentalist, and producer.

This would definitely be a wonderful stocking stuffer surprise!  :-)

Not every song is a keeper here, but overall the CD is well worth buying for the Allsion Krauss and Union Station fan.  The video of this CD is a better investment, as watching the band and seeing the footage is more enjoyable than the CD.  Do not get me wrong, the CD is good and worth buying, but not the bands best CD.  Check it out.

I find myself listening to her music on any occassion, especially traveling down the interstate on solitary drive home. She is a wonderful and talented songwriter. She has influenced some wonderful groups and songwriters. This cd is a collection of some of the best material she has ever written. I would recommend this along with...

Alison Kraus is such a talented artist.  Great smoky overtones with a soulful back ground track. She really hits it big with this one and I hope that she's ready to pump out more soulful music in the near future. I loved her work with union station and I would say that this is very similar to that.

I absolutely love Alison Krauss' music...there are not many of her songs that I do not enjoy.  Fantasic...and her range is outstanding! The only thing that does bother me is that at times Alison's voice is overshadowed by the background music which is a total shame as her voice is so beautiful!
