I was first "introduced" to Alison Krauss when she was around sixteen years of age. It was at an outdoor Bluegrass festival in Zimmerman, Minnesota. I remember this concert very well. And, I remember how this beautiful, talented, young girl captivated her audience as we listened in awe to her play her fiddle. Her talent was truly an inspiration to all who heard her play; her energy and her passion for her music was apparent in her ability to "WOW" her audience beyond their wildest expectations!
She was a remarkable fiddler and her music made my heart want to dance, but her angelic voice had the ability to do so much more! Truly, her voice was that of an angel and to hear her sing was most uplifiting, as I felt her voice caress my very soul! I remember that day telling my husband that "This young lady is going places!" I never forgot her.
"A Hundred Miles or More" is compiled of 16 different selections. You will hear several duets. I think the best known song is "Whiskey Lullaby," a duet with Brad Paisley. One that I really like is "How's the World Treating You" with James Taylor. Another of my favorite selections on this CD is "Down to the River to Pray." While you may not be familiar with many of the songs on this CD, you will not be disappointed as the entire CD is "music to your ears."
I love Allison's style. When I feel the need to unwind, Allison knows just how to caress my soul. The voice of this angel really has the power to move me, lifting me up to higher places. Allison's music has a special place in my heart and in my home. I recently purchased two more of her CDs and plan on adding more of them to my collection.
