I must confess that several times I have been fed up with ALFA and obtained quotes from other insurance companies with the intent to leave ALFA; however, their prices just cannot be matched in my area. We have tractor insurance, mobile home insurance, two car policies, a motor cycle policy as well as a boat policy. There is a yearly fee of $20 to be a member of Alfa or the cost of your policies will go up. Overall i cannot find a better place for my family and I to get insurance.

Customer Service
This is the number one complaint I have with ALFA. They are behind the times on digital access and although the office ladies are nice at my local branch it is hard to get in touch with the actual agent.

Available Plans
They have a lot of different plans and cover a lot of farm equipment other insurance companies scoff at; however, they don't have a lot of ways to check your accounts online. They have an app, but it is difficult to navigate and their newest pay by the month bill pay service is confusing. For instance they lumped the car and truck insurance together as one charge; however the life insurance comes out separately and there is no option for paying the mobile home insurance monthly at all or as a direct bill pay. In order to pay the mobile home insurance you receive a bill and must choose whether to pay for 6 months or a year, then write a check and mail it in. I would rather the bills all be direct debit or not just pick a way and stop making it so confusing for everyone.

I was involved in a minor accident with an ALFA Vision policy holder.  I really don't even know where to begin because my whole experience with the people at ALFA was very frustrating and disappointing to say the least.  With the exception of the people who answer the phones (before they transfer you to the department/person you need)...everyone I talked to was rude, unhelpful and EXTREMELY unprofessional.  When the adjuster came to do the estimate, he pulled up in a beat up car with duct tape on the bumper and was unshaven and wearing sweat pants and a flannel shirt.  What the hell?  You'd think the company could at least have some professional people out running around representing them and a car that looks decent, when your business revolves around fixing cars!!  Not to mention that I had to set up a time that was convenient for HIM...excuse me, I think it should be the other way around.  Every single time I suggested to him resulted in a sigh and an obvious sign of irritation.  Every time I talked to someone, I was given a different name for my adjuster and sent off to an answering machine.  Every time I left a message, I got no return phone call.  When I finally did reach someone they were unfriendly and just acted like they had no clue about anything.  I had no clue what the status of my claim was at all, then when I was finally fed up, I had to leave a hasty message...which resulted in some rude guy I never even talked to calling me at 7:00 in the morning!!  Then he preceded to get all rude with me when I asked simple questions about my claim and also explained that they want the body shops to use USED parts.  He was very rude and when I got rude back, he pretty much said thanks and hung up on me. (guess he couldn't handle it in return).  If I could explain all of the details of my whole experience with them, I would be on here for hours...what Ive said hasn't even begun to cover it!!  Based on the attitudes of everyone I dealt with, it's like this company strives to give TERRIBLE customer service.  I would not recommend this place to anyone and if you ever are unfortunate enough to be in a accident with a policy holder, get ready for nothing but aggravation!!

I had insurance with Alfa for 15 years with no claims. A field appraiser and agent came to my farm and checked my farm buildings. He said they were under insured and tripled the value of the buildings. After talking to my agent, he said all is well and not to worry about the increase of coverage and not to mind triple the amount of premium cost. I then received a termination letter from Alfa cancelling my coverage on the bujildings, farm, tractors , etc. I had always recommended Alfa Ins to other cattle farmers and landowners in Cherokee Co, Al , but now I see Alfa is greedy and will cancel you farm insurance if you do not increase the premiums about 3 times the amount you were paying. I guess they are trying to catch up moneywise for the tornados of 2011 on the back of retired and small farmers.

Horrible experience

I used the Daniel Stickler agency alpha insurance located in Forsyth Ga sadly trying to save money. Beware you get what you pay for. They are completely incompetent and rude. First month they were unable to set me up for auto draft probably because the agent called me and asked me to send them a copy of my checking account again two weeks after I set it up. When I gave it to her again she said oh that's right I already have it, but it's to late to set that up this month could she put it on my credit card which I agreed with no
Complaint. Then the next month she waited till the 15th to contact me and tell me there was a problem yet again and they wouldn't be able to auto draft again could she use my credit card again for payment I said no problem and went with the flow again and she assured me that was the last time. The next month they were able to auto draft but I recieved a bill before hand where they overcharged me for their mistake last month with a 10 dollar late fee. I notified them before the draft came out of my account and was told that they would try to correct it before the draft and if they couldn't catch it on time that it would be refunded back to my checking account asap. After the draft went through b/c they didn't catch their mistake I contacted th and they said no problem we will refund it to you asap. Three days later still no refund I had to contact them once again and their response was sorry we can't refund it we will discount your account next time. When I asked why and why I should trust them with my claims the agent went into defense mode instead of figuring out a way to make me happy. When I told her I was looking for their replacement the answer was sorry for the inconvienience their was a misunderstanding and your more than welcome to cancel. When I contacted her to cancel her boss began to make a feeble attempt to keep me as a customer and lectured me why I didn't contact him directly to make it right. He told me to allow him to call the billing dept. to see if could make a difference, which I agreed . When he called back there was nothing he could do so I demanded he cancel my policy. He rudely said quote that let me get this straight you are canceling over only ten dollars that he would cancel effective immediately and hung up the phone on me. Epic fail on the customer service. You should be embarrassed of your incompetence not angry with me for not tolerating it. It wasn't about the money it's about respecting your customers and not lie to them. If you say your going to fix your mistakes a certain way you should do it that way. Aweful experience.

DON'T USE ALFA INS!!!

Weused to have Alfa and changed because of poor customer service and lost payments. But this review is for the Claims service of Alfa. Their insured hit me and did $4000 of damage to my truck. I had to take of a total of 10 hours to get a rental car, take thge rental car back, go to Alfa office, and go back to body shop, twice. They cut the body shop check $100 short and nor they do not want to pay me for my time off work. Their claims adjuster does not return calls, and goes on vacation with unfinished claims hanging. I despise Alfa and this is just some of the reasons I do NOT recommend Alfa to anyone and will not use them again.

I have never dealt with an insurance company that never calls you back!! The staff are so unprofessional and are so SLOW!!! This company does not know what "Customer Service" means. If you have to deal with this company I feel sorry for you. To the management team you need to start over with a friendlier and more efficient staff!!

Competitive rates, great claims service, been with Alfa for 11yrs now. Like the small company feel, not giant nationwide company.

Customer Service
Great customer service, My agent always responds to text and emails. If I need anything I can always get someone on the phone, no phone tree through hundreds of prompts or someone in another country.

Available Plans
lots of options for secondary home, like a lake house or rental property. Lots of life products with some of best rates for a non internet life company. Lots of offices around so if you need something you can stop by any of them.

Great insurance company that I miss.

I used alfa for about twenty five years and was very happy with them. When I moved from Alabama to Tennessee I had to leave Alfa Insurance because they did not insure in Tennessee. I was very disappointed after having them for so long. During time I did use I had homeowners and auto insurance with them. I had to make two claims during that time the first was a result of hailstorm damage made to my car. they sent me to get estimate wherever I chose and paid it without any discussion. The next was on my homeowners policy. After a broken pipe in my laundry room ruined my ceramic tile floor and even seeped under wall and ruined my hardwood floors in living room and dinining room. I was told to get estimate and after I did they again paid it completely with no questions asked. Both times my insurance did not go up because of the claims. I also had great customer service throughout the time they were my insurance company. So if I could I would still be using them. I really had a great agent and staff.

Slow to respond and refuse to pull for all damage

Sadly I currently have Alfa and was in an accident that was my fault. Every single staff member was extremely slow to respond. My accident was almost about 1 month ago and I am finally getting my car to the repair shop in three days.

To add fuel to the fire, Alfa claims that paint chips from "road rash" (as they call it) makes them only responsible for paying 80% of the bumper. Which means if you have ever driven your car on a road then you will be liable to pay for some of the accident above and beyond your deductible. This was also the case for my fender, but there was a dent in that so if I have to pay for previous damage for something that they will already replace then I have no argument here.

Be warned that you will pay a lot more than just your deductible with Alfa Insurance.

Customer Service
Very slow to respond. I had to reach out to the claims department 3 days after the accident to get an initial response to my accident. It took another 5 days for the appraiser to come see my car, 4 days for the rental coordinator to coordinate my rental... Just a sad organization.

The first insurance company i had

I was married when I had this policy, I was 18 and he was 19. We paid around 150 for one car. The people in the Alfa place are very nice people and if we were a bit late on a payment they tried hard to work with us. (We did our best to stay on time with payments, but we were young and sometimes a few were a few days late.) The only complaint I have is that the insurance was a little bit expensive, most likely because of our age. The agent told us that we were paying a little less because we were married, but 150 is still high for just liability insurance. We were also members of their rewards thing, I forget the name of it. But we got discounts to places just for being in it and it was only around 3 dollars more for it. If it were a little cheaper, I may have stayed with Alfa, because everyone in my family uses this insurance company. I just simply could not afford it anymore. But they are good.

Study your state laws before you total a car!!

Over the summer, I totaled my 4 door Chevrolet Malibu in a wreck, which left myself and my 2 children injured. The adjustor who was assigned to my claim has not been very helpful at all and has acted like I am supposed to know how this entire process works. I did not know, having never totaled a car before, that ambulance companies and hospitals file with your car insurance company first, and then your health insurance company. When she told me we had $1000 for each of us, I was no longer worried about medical bills, because that would more than cover the co-pays for hospital stays and ambulance rides.... So I thought! She got a bill from the ambulance company and then paid it in full, using almost all of my deductible. Then, she decided to tell me that she could not pay anymore to the ambulance company if I told her so, and use the rest of the 1,ooo dollars to pay other co-pays. Since then, my son and I both have had several follow up appointments from surgeries and fractures. Needless to say, I am now going through legal procedures to try and get medical bills paid for.
