Most HelpfulI have heard lots about the Aldi stores. I finally took my first trip there a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. This place rocks!
One of the first things I noticed is when you arrive you must A: bring your own bags (or buy some from the store) and B: you must put a quarter into the cart...

Most HelpfulI had never heard of Aldi Foods until a few years ago when I started a new job and two of my cubemates were discussing the benefits of couponing. Turns out that they were really into it for the great deals that can be had. They kept mentioning this place called Aldi so I finally asked about it and stopped there on my way home that night and became an instant fan.
Aldi stores are small. They're only about the size of a drugstore, if not smaller, but packed full of good quality items for a great value. I can't do all of my grocery shopping there due to the limited selection but shop Aldi as...
review »Anyone that's been in an Aldi Food Store knows they are smaller than your everyday SUPERMARKET. That's what I like about them. I know they don't carry everything; I can deal with that. I can get in and out usually very quickly. So what if it's a 'generic' brand if it's just as good? PRICE MATTERS! I'm on a fixed income.
Those giant SUPERMARKETS are a nightmare to me. For example...you need mustard. As soon as you walk in the door you see a stand with one brand of mustard on sale. You grab one. Then, out of curiosity, you wander back to where they keep ALL the mustard. You find...

Choices are limited but If you are a fairly creative everyday cook that doesn't have a set agenda or need a fancy "shopping experience" ALDI is excellent. They also have a lot of packaged goods and staple items, as well...
review »Aldi Food Stores
It took me a while to check this store out, I fiqured it was low cost generic food. Boy was I wrong. Although I don't do all my shopping there It sure does help out on the family budget and has some great qualiy foods name brand and aldi name brand.
It was about a year after the store opened after hearing good comments after another,I decided to take a peek for myself.I was really suprised of the selection and taste the aldi name carried, alot of flavored items ready to cook, fancy looking too, who would of known.
Pro's and cons :
~The store buys in bulk and pass's the savings onto...
review »I have noticed that Aldi's prices have gone up quite a bit lately. Prices on some items have gone up so high, I've been able to find the for less at a major grocery chain like Jewel. Don't get me wrong, I still shop there because you can get a better deal on most of the products, but I find myself having to pay closer attention to the price of some things that are sold for less at other stores.
I am so thankful for Aldi! There are a few things that are not so great (the boxed potatoes for instance), but for the most part, the quality for the price is great! Their meat, especially, is excellent quality for a low price. It has saved us SOOO much money on our grocery bill! I have also bought special purchases several times with no problems. And with my recent ban on Wal-Mart, it really helps us keep our grocery costs down. (I have also reviewed Wal-Mart if you are curious)
Tip: Aldi only stocks in the morning, so if you go in the AM they will have a MUCH better selection than if you go...
review »I have to agree with other reveiwers, that staples come at a great price. I was expecially pleased with their canned tuna because I was getting national brands and getting black specks in them. I was leery of trying Aldi's tuna and was very satisfied with it. Their frozen skinless, boneless chicken usually has less fat attached than from your regular grocers. Since it is frozen, it is usually easier to remove. However, besides the chicken, I will only buy their 90/10 ground meat. Any lower ratio has more fat than you get at the regular grocery stores.. I have also bought corn beef...
