I just recently retired and tried Aldi's for the first time about 6 months ago.  I was pleasantly surprised by the low prices and selection of grocery items.  I was also impressed by the non grocery items they have that are ever changing.  It is fun to go in each week to see what is new.  On the down side I really don't like the meat  - all else however is comparable to brand names.
