I fell in love with Alanis about the same time most people who loved her did. It was her album "Jagged Little Pill", released in June of 95. Morissette rocked an entire nation with hits like "You Outa Know", "Hand in my Pocket", "You Learn", and my favorite from the album, "All I really Want". Every song on that CD was awesome. That was over thirteen years ago. She never really recaptured the public quite like she did in the summer of 95 again, but thats not to say her music wasn't as good. I happen to think - like every artist, you continue to shed new skin as you grow.

After a few more albums...

Review of Alanis Morrisette - Flavors of Entanglement CD

I found this CD a little hard to listen to at first, but it does grow on you the more times you play it.
Alanis has grown-up musically in her new album entitled Flavors of Entanglement.
The transformation of the artist is self-evident in this new album of hers. Some people think of her as the rocker-chick but this album shows her diversity, depth and growth as an artist.
There are certainly a myriad of layers and "entanglement of flavors" which nourish one's cultural musical soul.
I had to skip a couple of the tracks, but those I listen to are...

I first became addicted to Alanis Morissette with "Jagged Little Pill", now her seventh studio album, "Flavors of Entanglement" has me hooked again.

Alanis' song writing is superb on this album. I was impressed with the wit that conveyed such conflict. The lyrics weave such a vibrant picture and her voice just resounds the pain/triumphant.

I was touched by the song "Moratorium". It is a reflection of what we all struggle with, "do I give up". It's about moving on and accepting it's okay to "die" so you can live again.

The song, "Underneath" has the familiar rhythm Alanis' music has had in the past...

I put Alanis and Dave Matthews in a similar category--they are enormously talented, but the appreciation of that talent has been diminished by the hughe sucess of their initial works.  With some exceptions on Supossed Former Infatuation Junkie, Alanis has consistently put out interesting and artistic music.  Flavors is no exception.  Her voice continues to get better, her lyrics are poetic yet accessible, her melodies get better and better with more listens.
