Having taken several long haul flights over the years, I can honestly say no airline knows how to make a 12 hour flight as painless as possible as well as Air New Zealand. — Let's face it, no one is comfortable being trapped on board a plane for 12+ hours. At best, it's going to be clautrophobic, either too hot or too cold, and boring. At worst, the food will be awful, the service will be terrible and the movies will be awful. Air New Zealand is an excellent Airline.  They have great customer service and wonderful service.  I had a flight scheduled from Fiji to LA on Qantas.  Qantas overbooked their flight and were going to put me on standby.  This was Saturday and they told me the next flight out was on Tuesday.  I had a connecting flight from LA to Philadelphia already scheduled.  Qantas was rude and uncaring.  Air New Zealand staff, however, offered to honor my ticket to LA and put me on their next flight.  Their service at the airport and on the plane was great. … read full review »
