Elmo and His Blankie
Elmo loves his Blankie, they are inseparable. So much so, that Elmo is not wiling to share it with his friend Zoe, who only wants to hold it for a little while. "Mine!", he shouts. Being possessive is a stage most, if not all, children go through. And we all know it's normal. But, it also isn't very nice. After a tug-of-war to get his Blankie out of Zoe's grip, a gust of wind takes Blankie away and all over Sesame Street and eventually down Oscar the Grouch's trashcan. Elmo sneaks in to find it, and accidentally opens a door that sucks he and his precious Blankie down a warp hole to Grouchland!
A Greedy Villain
Elmo loses his Blankie in Grouchland to a villainous character who claims any item he comes in contact with, a true hoarder and junk collector. Brave Elmo sets on an adventurous journey to rescue his best friend and lovey. Greedy Huxley tries to stop him, setting traps along the way.
A Valuable Lesson
Throughout his journey, Elmo comes in contact with fun and wonderful characters. Some helpful, others, not so much. Along the way he discovers that his behavior toward Zoe earlier in the day was not so different from Huxley's. He learns that being selfish is not the way to make or keep friends.
What We Love About The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland
The musical numbers - Every single musical number in this film is fun to watch and get into. My favorite one is when Elmo realizes how far away Huxley's castle is and how he has to get there on his own. A plant pops out of the ground and sings Take The First Step, Elmo begins to dance and all the other plants and small creatures dance and sing along.
The puppetry and effects - As always, the Jim Henson studio puppets are creative and fun to watch. I love how in some of the scenes you can see Elmo's entire body, so he does not look like a typical hand puppet. The warp hole to Grouchland is colorful and not a bit scary, even Elmo laughs as he floats through it.
Overall this movie is fun, educational and entertaining. I found nothing negative about it. Even the villain is extremely silly and nothing to be afraid of. My children love this movie, and we as parents enjoy it as well.
