People complain about Advantage Rent-A-Car, but I don't think they're as bad as some folks say. I travel often to see my family across America, so I rent a car each trip. Recently I flew to Colorado Springs where I rented from Advantage. I called to rserve the car, explaining that I NEEDED a car that would get around in snow. I was told that the SUV's were not available, but that I would be given a Sebring or another similar car that will drive comfortably in snow. when we arrived, we were given a Hyundai, which I questioned. We rented a convertible through Advantage.  While standing in line, the guy in back of me was on the phone telling someone he didn't get the car he rented, so I was not feeling comfortable already.  Sure enough, they did not have a convertible for us.  The agent said they had a car with a sun roof, and we could call the next day to see if they had a convertible returned. They informed me that my personal car insurance (issued in another state) was not recognized in the state of Nevada and that I had to purchase their insurance.  Which cost more than the rental of the car did!!  I contacted the Insurance Commisioner for the state of Nevada and he said that is FALSE!  I'm angry that they take advantage of weary travelers!  Other than that issue the whole process went smoothly and we enjoyed the car.  ANY future business with a car rental agency and I will be ready for battle if they ever tell me that again!  So beware and tell… read full review »
