the free version is great to view pdf files. adobe really sets the standard in this field.  but the program is slow on any computer that isnt top of the line.  also a con is that they bundle it with all sorts of software that you will never use.  almost everything from adobe has a few extra processes running in the background that take up memory as well and are not needed.  there are plenty of freeware programs out there that load faster and work just as well.  I recommend searching for one of those
