Adderall ADHD Medication —

When I was diagnosed with ADHD over 9 years ago, I was first prescribed Concerta, which was completely ineffective. I was then put on Strattera, which also lacked in providing me with the concentration and focus I desperately needed. Then my doctor suggested Adderall, and it turned out to be so effective that I was focusing in school, at home, at my job, and life in general.

My doctor prescribed me two 10 mg pills to be taken twice daily (eventually upped to two 20 mg pills twice daily after a few years due to my tolerance going up), once in the morning and once more in the afternoon (since Adderall is an amphetamine based medication, it tends to keep you awake at night if taken too late in the day).

The first day I took Adderall, I noticed a significant increase in my ability to concentrate in all areas of my life. My grades immediately improved in college, I was more focused on my instructor, did much less daydreaming in class and at work, I was more focused when driving my car, my memory improved (I no longer forgot doctor appointments or meetings as I had before), I was getting more work done at my job as a financial processor, and as an added bonus, it improved my mood and seemed to almost cure my depression, which is also something I was diagnosed with several years ago.

Although I will admit I don't always enjoy the idea of taking a medication that is amphetamine based as it does have the potential to cause unfortunate side effects (I've noticed weakened tooth enamel and slight insomnia), the benefits I receive from taking Adderall have far outweighed the negative side effects I've experienced.

I would not recommend this medication to anyone who has a history of drug abuse as it can be extremely addictive, but for the average person who has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, and is not the type to abuse prescription medications or other drugs, I would say that Adderall could potentially work wonders for you.

I have been taking it for about 8 to 9 years now and have noticed a significant positive change in my lifestyle and daily routine. My memory and focus have improved so much that I'm still amazed after all this time at how this particular medication has affected me.

Other than potential abusers, I would recommend anyone who believes they may have ADD or ADHD to talk with their doctor about Adderall.

Also, as a concluding note, the makers of Adderall have recently come out with a new drug call Vyvanse, which (according to my doctor) is only one molecule different than Adderall, and has the same affect on focus and concentration, but without the "amped up" amphetamine feeling that some don't find appealing. Vyvanse is an extended release medication and feels calmer and will usually eliminate any insomnia that Adderall may cause.

Both medications are highly recommended - they both work equally to enhance focus and concentration, but give the patient the option of how they would like to physically feel while taking ADHD medication (some like the energetic feeling Adderall gives you, while some prefer the calmer feeling that Vyvanse gives).

Final comment - Adderall is by far the most effective ADHD drug of the three I have been prescribed, and is highly recommended!
