I've used contacts for 20+ years, and I've always had the red-irritated eyes. Because of my astigmatism, I started out with hard contact lenses then transitioned to the better gas permeable (GP) lenses. The best experience I've had so far were the GP Toric lenses, but unfortunately my eyes still looked like I had been up all night. So the Acuvue lenses are marketed specifically for astigmatism (and comfort), so I tried them. Two issues: 1. They actually felt pretty good up until 3 days of use - then I would start seeing blurry, kind of like when you wear one lens backwards (and it was almost like they were shifting every time I blinked?) and at one point, looking to my right it almost felt like the contact would get stuck in the center position of my eye so I'd have to turn my head to look at things straight ahead (instead of just shifting my eyes) to prevent the lens from moving...I could fix this by putting on a new pair of contacts, but the bad thing about that was I was going through 4 or 5 pairs a month (these were the toss every month kind of lenses) so I quickly depleted my stock. I have a mild form of dry eyes (probably from years of contact use?) which I think significantly contributed to my symptoms...so if you even have a mild case of dry eyes, you won't enjoy these contact lenses. I suspect they stick really good to your eyeball if there isn't enough lubrication. 2. The other thing that I found was that because they were so thin, they would tear so, so, so easily...merely taking the lens off my eye at the end of the day would sometimes result in a small tear in the lens...they just are not durable enough... So I'm off to my optometrist to find another product...unfortunately I cannot recommend Acuvue Advance for astigmatism lenses...
