I recently purchased the Actiontec MegaPlug 85 Mbps Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit. You can buy this as a kit, or you can buy them individually. But you need at least two to start with, so unless you have one already, it's cheaper and more convenient to buy the kit.

What this item does, is it allows you to effortlessly connect any network-enabled item in your house to your existing internet connection. You can connect a laptop, desktop, Xbox, Playstation, Wii, etc.

I bought it to connect my son's desktop to our existing DSL service. I received the package, opened it, and then plugged one...
