Across the Universe 2007 Review

Let me start by sayin this is a great movie. Even mu husband who typically hates things like this grudginly admitted it wasn't that bad. I loved watching it, it was a great movie experience. The onyl downside to me is after seeing how great Titus was (of the same director) this fell short of my expectations. I was expecting perhaps a bit more subtlety in the characters instead of being hit over the head with Joplin/Hendrix/McCartney. It was beautiful to watch, it was moving, and not being alive during that time myself, I feel the setting of the music really helped to udnerstand the music a little more, and see it in a different light.

 Go rent it! It's great, but then go rent Titus, and you'll understand what I'm talking about. I wanted more from this movie, and I know it had the potential to be more, and I'm just a little disappointed it didn't live up to my expectations, but again, those were extraordinarily high expectations.
