I bought this Acer laptop after owning several Gateways.  I considered another 14 inch Gateway, but the Acer had more memory and cost $100 less.  I have been very pleased with the speed, solid feel of the keyboard, and great battery life. I would recommend this laptop to anyone.

The Acer Extensa 4620Z is the sort of machine designed for people that work more than play. Mine came with Windows XP, which is a plus no matter what Microsoft says about Vista. With XP, it is relatively fast, comes with a good amount of memory, and will run most of your applications (world, excel, power point, OpenOffice, statistical software, photo editors, etc) without any issues. Plays and writes CDs and DVDs, and has some really foolproof presentation settings (point-and-click presentation mode: it saves to the time to change your settings when you use a LCD projector and stuff). It also...

I purchased the Acer Extensa 4620Z 2gig 160gighd 14.1, last christmas for the family to use and take on vacation. We use it on vacation to transfer all  Cameras digital images from our sd card, so we can clear up space to take more pictures. The kids use it to watch DVD movies, on the plane, ferry boat, hotel if need be. We use it to check our email while at home and vacation. I work in an IT dept. for about 10 years and I can tell you this laptop is great. never had a problem with it. Here are a few quick tips : never leave your laptop plug into the outlet 24 hrs a day, when it is fully charged... read full review »

This lAcer 4620Z laptop comes with Windows VIsta trial version. You have to buy Vista after the trial period. This makes the laptop much more expensive than many others on the market. Great starter laptop.

This just keeps having it's hard drive replaced!  Acer won't replace the laptop... the manufacturer's warranty only covers replacement/repair of parts.  This thing is a lemon.

Acer Extensa 4620Z:
Likes: nice look; keyboard is nice; screen graphic quality is very good; has exceptional
connectability with 4 USB ports, Infra-red, Blu-tooth, Phone jack, Cat5 jack, memory card
reader, CD/DVD RW drive, PC card slot, and built in high speed wireless. 2 gb memory
is good so I don't have to worry about upgrading it. I set mine up out of the box with no
problems.

Dislikes: a bit underpowered CPU-wise for Vista but not so much as to really be a
frustration - just seems a bit slow to boot. Seems hard for me to find an extra battery for this
so far. No...

I bought this laptop because I needed a basic laptop for getting on the internet along with some basic computer activities.  This laptop is great for that.  I can use the internet, do some basic budgeting, & watch dvd's.  For the price, this is a super-nice computer - I shopped with my IT guy from work & he loved this one.  Added bonus - its got a built in webcam.

I spent only about $600 or so at Best Buy on sale about 9 months back, and I don't know what I'd do without it.  All Acer computers come with "epower" technology which makes it very easy to organize and secure files, modify screen resolution and brightness to save on battery life, and an "enet manager" with speed boost to easily find network connections nearby.  It also comes with 2 partitioned internal drives which makes it very easy to separate and organize media files from other programs.

However, there are a few problems with this model that I noticed.  1) the battery doesn't last very...

This laptop has all I need to keep up with my work schedule. I love how lightweight it is. I don't feel like I am carrying a suitcase to work with me when carrying it. The built in web-cam is great for conferencing and for seeing my grandchildren across the state and across three states grow.

The one drawback is that Windows Vista definitely has some power issues and wants to take over in areas that I want control. I think I would have preferred sticking with XP and keeping control of my connections and some other areas.

I have only had this computer for a few months, and already it is starting to have some problems.  Sometimes it has trouble shutting down and sometimes the dvd drive doesn't work.  Otherwise, it is a great computer for the low price.

I recently got my new Acher Laptop Computer and have been very pleased with it to date.  So far it has been alot faster than my previous laptop.  The slowness of my old laptop was the reason for me purchasing the Acher.
