I bought this laptop about 3 years ago based solely on the low, low price. Initially I was looking for a very basic low priced computer for my 83 year old grandmother to do email and Facebook on and this was the lowest price on the market. After I got it home and started to set it up for her I fell in love with it and went back and bought another one for my mother and one for myself! This machine is outstanding for the price! It's a solid sturdy well designed machine. Some other competitor machines in this price range felt flimsy and like they would break easily. I have had my machine on pretty much all day and night for years and have never had a problem EVER. The same goes for my Grandmother's machine and my mother's machine (which get considerably less use). I've used this machine for telecommuting to work, for heavy internet activity with multiple tabs and windows and browsers running simultaneously. Though its obviously not a gaming computer with these specs, I was able to do a minimal amount of gaming in very graphics intense online games (3D environments in real time). I have no problem with watching Youtube videos, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle full length Netflix movies without a bit of lagging. The Wifi speed is great and it never drops the signal. I love this machine! Ease of Use This is a sturdy well built machine that can handle pretty much anything the internet has to offer. Battery Life Though I leave mine plugged in most of the time I know newer machines have a much longer battery life than this one. It holds for about 2 hours. Support & Service The few issues I have had were easily resolved with great support. Speed/Performance It's got surprising speed and performance for this price. It's certainly not a gaming machine but in this price range, its certainly a 10.

I bought this in a pinch, to quickly replace a 1 year old Toshiba laptop that stopped working. I have been much more satisfied with it than I was with the full laptop I had! Its light, and easy to carry with me. This was very important to me, I hated needing a separate laptop bag and to be so careful about transporting it and this one fits easily into a small tote bag and Ive taken it on vacations with no problem - and no worry about leaving it behind or alerting thieves to the fact that Im carrying an obvious laptop bag. It works well, I mostly use it for word documents, media viewing and internet usage, all of which work at a speed just fine for me. I dont store too many things or programs on it so that is not a huge problem. At first it was hard to get used to it not having a CD drive, but now I find using a USB even easier and more convenient. Ease of Use No problems with use, everything is functional and comparable with other netbook style computers. Battery Life Decent..I get about 2.5 hours of full use on a charge which Ive felt is acceptable and comparable for a netbook. Support & Service I have never contacted Acer or needed repairs so I cant rate this service. Speed/Performance Acceptable. Sure it could always be faster, but for the price and how I use it, I have no complaints. Design Perfect sized, cute small and easily portable. Durability Ive carried this along many places and just toted it in regular bags and purses and it stands up to all this use very well, I am very impressed on this score.

The smaller size of the netbook can be a challenge for some users that prefer the larger size of a laptop or desktop computer. However, the compact size of the netbook makes it easy to transport for travel. Ease of Use The "mousepad" of the netbook can prove to be a little of a challenge to use. The design of the buttons and the pad isn't ideal. Battery Life The netbook appears to hold a charge for longer than my regular size laptop. I can use it for longer periods of time without charging the unit. Support & Service I have never used the support or service, so I cannot give a negative or positive rating. Speed/Performance It's not as fast as my desktop, but it's fast for being a little netbook. Design The overall design of the unit is nice. Durability I have dropped the unit several times with no damage to the materials or performance issues.

Positively poor very basic in spec. I went for the deal at Tesco's & bought it o good An spec. It seemed a good deal at the time compared with what Curry's had in stock it was a 3gb as they only direcr laptop cehad 2gb. Tesco's dont display their stock or let u try them out prior to purchase unlike Curry's have them all set up & working for u to try. The graphics on it aren't bad but again very limited. I have had to put the factory restore programme in at least twice since i have got it, & its ovde ear 2yrs old now. I want to upgrade but again it's having the money. My friend got a really good Acer laptop directly from Acer themselves He only payed £30 extra for his ok it didn't have the glossy lid but was extremely high on spec. I wish i had gone directly through Acer themselves. I think i got stung with this. It doesnt have a built in microphone or webcam not even any cap or number lock lights. Even my old Toshiba had them. I dont like the Keyboard if u move your hands lower than the screen the screen jumps. On a count of 1 to 10 i would give it 3. Sorry

I received the Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook as a Christmas gift this past year. I have 4 children and they were taking over my PC and I needed something that I could take with me around town and on trips but not at the expense of a full size laptop, so I was very pleased to receive this item. My parents purchased one for each of their children and families. We are all very pleased with this little netbook. It has been a great 2nd computer. It is too small and not convenient to use for hours at a time but it works great for pulling up recipe's,  reading a few emails or doing a quick search for directions. I have also taken it on trips with me and it works great to stay in touch but again I would not want to rely on it to write a long paper, do a great deal of research or use it for hours of work. The keyboard is easy to use but let's face it when you have something that is small, ALL of the features are going to be small, including the keyboard. The kids have used it to watch video's while wating in an office for doctor apointments etc., but I did notice that once we loaded the seperate media package CD that the battery life seem to be reduced greatly. I assume that's because it takes more power to run the netbook with more programs installed but I am not knowledgeable to really explain why, just that it did. It went from about 7 hrs to 4 hrs of use with the media package. The back-lighting is adequate and all of the features have worked well. It has bee very sturdy and with 4 kids, it is not always gently used but we do take care of it and I don't let them carry it around. It works well for our needs and we have been happy with it for the past 6 months,

The Acer Aspire AS5740 is the best computer I have ever owned. I have owned several different brands of computers over the years and didn't know too much about the Acer brand. I was a little familiar with the name but had never purchased before. I am so happy I did. I have had this computer for almost a year and I have not had one bit of trouble with it. It loads promptly every time. It has wonderful graphics and I really like the full sized keyboard with the number pad on the right. I like the big touchpad and the multi-gesture support. There is a button next to the touchpad to turn it off which is very convenient. The Acer has a 2 megapixel web cam which is an added bonus. The keyboard has a matte finish which I found to be different from other laptops. No smudges or fingerprints can be seen. For the price, this is a very affordable computer. It may look drab to some people but I was not into this computer for looks, I was into its performance and I am very pleased with every aspect of the Acer Aspire. Some think it is a little heavy but I don't usually carry it with me so I was not concerned with the weight. It doesn't feel much heavier than my old Toshiba. My next laptop will be an Acer! Ease of Use I have been so pleased with my Acer. It is very easy to use. I am just as happy with it as the day I got it. The Acer Aspire is a great laptop for anyone. Anyone can use this from a beginner to a pro. Battery Life I have been very pleased with how long the battery lasts when I use it away from an electrical outlet. I don't usually use it that way but the few times I have, I have felt the length of time on battery power is exceptional. Support & Service I am going to give this an excellent rating although I have never had to use their support and service because I feel like I would be very pleased with the suport and service due to the fact that I have been contacted many times to find out if I am pleased or if I have any problems. Speed/Performance My Acer Aspire has been very quick to load from day one and has not let up a bit. I am always pleased when I turn on my Acer and it is ready to go immediately. Uusually after you have had a computer for a while it really slows down when booting up, but not my Acer it is just a fast as the first time I used it. Design The Acer Aspire is very simple design. A wonderful matte finish on the Acer leaves no fingerprints and it is easy to keep dust free and clean. Durability My Acer Aspire will take a licking and keep on ticking. I am sorry to say that it has been dropped on the floor a couple of times (certainly not by me, but someone else who is careless) and it has not a scratch or mark on it. Looks great and brand new still after a few years.

We are an acer family.  I am on my second.  I wore my first one out  it became out dated after 5 years of use i decided to buy another.  my daughter also has bought one.  we will never stray from this brand  never any problems and we love the quality greaphics speed.  the entire package.  Why spend more when this is just as good.

Got this as a christmas present and it is a great little laptop. I just use it for playing on the net but it certainly works well for that we got a fantastic price on it so it definitely was worth its money. I would recommend for someone who want portability for just personal fun use.

If you don't really care about style, but want as powerful machine as possible for as little cash as possible, then you should definitely go for an Acer. Ease of Use Easy setup, no difficult software to install. Battery Life Quite decent I must say. Now the batttery life of laptops in general isn't that great, and the Acer is doing ok. Support & Service Haven't had any problems with my Acer so I haven't really used the support service. Speed/Performance Excellent speed and performance! I'm very satisfied with the overall performance, that is the reason I went for an Acer in the first place. Design Let's be honest here, Acer is not really trying to get you on the design.... Durability I haven't had it for too long but so far so good!

My thirteen year old daughter used some of her babysitting money to buy herself a cute little Acer One Netbook, she was delighted with it and asked me to check it out.   I was somewhat scepticle about the neetbook, it seemed so small and toy-like, but once I used hers I was hooked.   My fifteen year old daughter also decided to get one, and there I was with my 15 inch Acer Laptop computer envying the girls with their "toys".    I was about to go on a flight and decided that with the long battery life and lightweight feature of this computer that it would be a great travelling companion, so the third Acer One came to our home. It was great on the flight, not big and bulky like my laptop, easy to carry in a shoulder bag and easy to stow under the seat for take off and landings.   I had downloaded some books that I wanted to read and had my web design software so I was able to work on websites as well, making use of all the hours on planes and airports. It has a web camera and a good size [160gb] hard drive, the same as my larger laptop.  It is now my prefered computer and just today I took it with me when I was driving my daughters to a few places they wanted to go.  I even managed to find free internet access and checked my email while waiting for the girls to finish their shopping. I think this is the best computer I have ever owned for ease of use & portability.  I was a laptop fan since I bought my first one about eight years ago, thinking it was great to be untied from the desk, with this little gem I feel that freedom is magnified.
