Can take this laptop anywhere

4

I got this mini laptop in Apr 2009. It has everything you need to be able to communicate through email as well as the Microsoft suite of products.  With the Wireless capability I can run into any Wi-Fi enabled location, or one of my providers hotspots and be up and running within three minutes.  If you are planning on using it for heavy lifting types of projects where you have alot of detailed information you may want to still use your full sized laptop.  The smaller screen did take some getting use to.  So if you are doing alot of detailed work this might not be the one for you.  The other amazing feature is the battery.  If is very powerful and does actually last the four to five hours it is suppose to before a charge is needed.  I have rarely had to lug along my power cord and do that seek and search for the two outlets usually found in cafes or public wi-fi spots.  That allows me to not have to have an additional PC bag for it, I can just slip it down in my binder and go, or just stack it on top of my binder since it is about the size of a hardcover book. This would be great for school and going to the library for research.  One drawback is that it does not have a built-in dvd/cd-rom player, so all software would have to be downloaded onto it.  It does have two USB ports for memory sticks or accessories.

Acer Aspire One .

5

I have had this little Acer Aspire One netbook for well over a year now and its still going strong! I had originally bought this as a way to do some quick mobile computing but found out that it was fast becoming my go to laptop all the time. Sure it isnt as powerful as my Core tw duo desktop but who needs all that power all the time? Most of the time I just want to check my email and surf a few of my favorite sites on the web. The Acer does that just perfectly. I can even play some of my favorite games on Pogo.com. Those games are flash bashed and not always the most computer friendly but the Acer is able to handle them just fine. It has a built in wifi connection so you can use it just about anywhere. With all the free wifi spots around you can be completely mobile and stay constantly connected. The keyboard is about 80% of a full one and the screen while being small..is in a wide format which makes it great for viewing video content. The bottomline is if you want portability the Acer Aspire is a great value.

The Aspire One is portable enough to keep with you all the time

4

I have had an Acer Aspire One since soon after they came out.  It's size makes it very portable, I keep it in my backpack and carry it every day.  It has enough power to watch 720p HD video (full 1080p will not work however).  I have loaded and used Windows 7 Premium, SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2010, MS Office 2010, etc with no loss of functionality.  You do of course end up scrolling a lot due to the small screen size, but this is not intended as a replacement for your desktop.  I can take my business files with me on a weekend trip and still get work done without lugging around 15 pounds of full fledged latop and accessories around.  The only application I have been unable to run (and it doesn't surprise me much) is ArcGIS Explorer.  I did purchase an external dvd drive to make it easier to install an OS, but have used it very little since then.  I was able to load and run win 7, ubuntu, and OS X but never got the boot loaders to play nice with all three so I dropped OS X since I would have had to replace the wireless card since the stock card is not compatible.  Twice in the 3 years that I have had it the fan has failed to turn on, causing the device to power down almost immediately.  the solution has been to give it a sharp tap against the side near the fan with the power off and try it again.  Battery life has been outstanding, usually 6-7 hours on a charge, a little less if you are watching a lot of video.

The Acer Netbook works like a charm

5

I purchased the Acer netbook for my daughter about a year ago.  She didn't need anything very expensive and big and heavy.  She needed something to hook her ipod up to, save her digital pictures on, as well as occassional surfing the internet for doing school projects or taking tests.  The 10.1 inch screen is very vivid and she became a youtube watcher as well when she got it.  It is very lightweight.  We find it is very easy to take with us, just putting a sleeve on it, and tossing it in a suitcase.  The battery claims to last over 6 hours, however, we have only had it last just short of 6 hours.  We do not consider this to be a complaint, as we have very little need to have it unplugged anywhere long enough to run out the battery, as is.  She has used it every day since she received it and it  has held up wonderfully.  We had read some reviews that the battery can tend to run hot and cause the hard drive to go out.  To hopefully counteract this, we bought an inexpensive USB fan for it to sit on.  It keeps it nice an cool.  To date, we have not had one issue with it underfperforming, or running hot.  Highly recommend using a fan under it if it will be on for prolonged periods of time, as it certainly seems to have helped us avert this particular issue others have had.  I wish it had a dvd drive, but at the time, it didn't seem necessary for what she was going to use it for.  As she has advanced her use of the computer and the online activities available by her school, the drive would have come in handy to upload some programs.  I do not necessarily like downloading programs online.  The issue regarding some of her papers to print, or her presentations to take into school have been resolved by a thumb drive.  It has three usb ports and the normal speaker and headphone hookups, and even has a port for hooking up a second monitor, if desired.  It came with Windows XP on it, which at the time surprised me as other Windows products had been released.  I was fine with it at the time, but now I wonder why it did not come with Windows 7 or Vista.  Perhaps that was part of the low low price I paid for it.  While I may wish it had a disk drive, or newer operating system, I was very happy with my purchase of this Acer netbook at the time, and after approximately a year, I am still very pleased with it.  It still operates like new, still fast as it was when we first set it up, and still does all the things we ask of it with great speed.  I would recommend this for anyone who needs something lightweight, small and on the go for normal computer needs.  Especially if you have children who need a computer to not only do a little bit of working on, but to do a lot of playing on.  With a fan underneath it, it will hold up.

Not perfect, but gets the job done.

I have had this Netbook for 2 years now.  It was a good deal and I needed the ability to work on homework anywhere.  This computer provided that freedom.  The first thing I did when I got the computer was switch from the included Windows xp platform to a Linux platform.  I still have mixed feelings about the switch but all in all it was good.  The computer itself is very portable and has a very good battery life.  However the life is not the six hours as claimed by the included battery.  Functionally the computer has its ups and downs.  Because it is portable it is small, and the small size means a small screen.  This has its disadvantages.  For one, you can never see the whole page when looking online. Also, any documents or work you are doing is small and can cause eye strain.  The clarity of the screen is great though.  It is a nice sharp image. Typing is not as big an issue as I thought it would be on a little key board.  You may find you will type slower, but you get used to it.  If you have very large hands you may reconsider this item.   The wireless is the perk that sold me on this Netbook. Overall it is a good buy if you are on a budget or you simply need a little portability without paying big bucks.

The Acer Aspire ONE A150-1447 Netbook is perfect for all users

4

The Acer Aspire ONE A150-1447 Netbook is a wonderful purchase, espesially for those of us who are in to convinience and usability.  Firstly, it is lightweight and easily trasnsported.  Being someone who is always on the move, I find this to be an extremely positive aspect.  Next, the battery life (though not the longest in the world) is more than ample.  It will allow the user plenty of time to perform most or all of the tasks necessary with relevant ease, within reason of course.  This product is also perfect for someone who may not be a computer whiz.  It's simple and easy to use and offers the user plenty of options to complete nearly ever project asked of it without much hastle.      The best part of this whole thing is **THE PRICE!**  Compared to similar products from better known companies the Acer is very reasonable and perfect for someone who needs a netbook but is on a budget.  With this item it is not necessary to pay more to get what you are looking for.

Acer mini aspire one laptops are great

3

The Acer mini-laptop is great for students like me. I love how I can take it anywhere and it's so light. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't come with a cd drive and there are some pages you can't go through because the screen is so small. However, it's perfect for school work, taking notes, and other things. It only costs 299.99. I paid a little more for mine because I bought with a extra 2-year warranty.
