My parents bought me this laptop when I went off to college. More than likely they bought this one for two reasons: 1 - they couldn't afford much more and 2- they couldn't afford much more if and when it needed to be replaced. If I had to sum up this laptop in one word, average would be it. It is of average weight (there are certainly some that weight a lot more and certainly others that way a lot less), the battery is okay, maybe 3 hours a day, it is of average size and worked for the average life span of most laptop computers (2-3 years), in my experience. if you're looking for something on a low budget for basic use, this is for you - you don't have to spend a lot of money and it will do what you need it to as long as you aren't expecting to run a game with high graphics or have 20 windows open at one time.

This is by far the best computer I have ever used. It has lots of storage space on the Hard-drive. It is fast and is always up to date. I would definately recommend this computer to someone. It has made my life so much easier For school and work. ( Not to mention keeping up to date with all the new kid stuff going on) Ease of Use If you don't understand how to use something on this computer, all you have to do is search for it on the PC. It will tell you everything you need to know. Battery Life My battery stays charged for days when it is unplugged. I am always on it too!! Support & Service Like I said before, If you need to know something about this computer you can search. It always helps. But if you still need technical support you can go to ACER.COM. They can help you with anything you need to know. They also have technical support. Speed/Performance This is a fast computer. The performance is outstanding. I can do pretty much anything. I can surf multiple websites at one time. I can play games for hours and it is still fast and reliable. Design It has kind of a girly, sleek design to it. Its modern, but if feels like they made it just for me. I am very proud of that. Durability Its got to be a pretty durable object to live in my home. this poor computer has been dropped, spilled liquids on it, my children have played with it. It is still in amazing condition. It is the most durable computer I have ever owned.

When my first notebook died, I looked for a replacement that had a wide screen. Although I didn't get quite the size of my monster old notebook, I got a good-sized screen in my Acer Aspire AS5742-6638 PC Notebook. I don't really notice the reduced size of the screen; the Acer seems large enough to have everything in view that I want or need. One great thing about the ACER that I like better than my old laptop: it is very lightweight. I can pick it up with one hand (not recommended). When I'm traveling, I can hardly tell I've packed my laptop, compared to the old one. It isn't the lightest laptop around, but it's a nice weight. Its speed is amazing. I am totally satisfied with how quickly programs open and how fast it boots up. Again, compared to my old notebook, it seems extremely fast. I use it for Photoshop work, and I have no complaints about how quickly it opens large graphics. This Acer came with Windows 7, and while it took a bit of time to learn the new operating system, I actually like it now, in most ways. I really like the built-in video camera for Skype. Makes it so easy to talk to my hubby when he's on the road. The Acer's flaws: only two USB ports, and they are both on the right side, close together. It would have made more sense to put them on the left, where they wouldn't be right next to my wireless mouse, fighting for space in cramped quarters. And only two USB ports? Nonsense. Also, there is no mute button, and the volume scroll wheel doesn't stop. You can't easily tell whether the volume is up or down because it will go on scrolling forever. Granted this is a low-cost option, and they didn't advertise it with a lot of bells and whistles, but with just a few small tweaks, this could have been my favorite laptop ever. I got this computer used on eBay. I liked the design and the light weight. The battery life really isn't that bad. Also, there's virtually no glare on the screen. There's a lot of hard drive space and I do love Windows 7. Once thing I didn't like is that it takes a long time to start up. I feel like most laptops do, but this one in particular. I don't have a lot of programs installed on this computer, so, I feel like it shouldn't take so long to load. I also think that some programs take a while to open. Examples: video players, Google Crome, and Word. It's not that big of a problem, though. Really, for the price, you can't beat this laptop. Just don't expect to do a ton of gaming on it.

I love my chocolate brown Acer. The only things I wish were different are easier to repair keyboards (I had to replace mine) and an included reinstall disk. I had to make 3 DVD to reinstall my OS. Support & Service Paid support only after a specified time (1 year I think). I would like to be able to email or phone in for support issues that don't require repairs or lengthy phone calls. Speed/Performance Adequate for everything that I do. I often do multiple things at once, such as listen to music, email, surf, type documents, and watch videos and it keeps up pretty well. Design Love the keyboard layout, pad, and color. I have a brown laptop and I love it. The lid and the keyboard area had a textured look that also helps with grip when carrying the laptop. The touchpad works well and is not too touchy. Durability Holds up well. I don't abuse my laptop, but I don't treat it with kid gloves always, and it still looks nice and doesn't scuff easily.
