Acer 18.5'' LCD Monitor Review

 When the flat screen monitor that came with my Dell PC went belly up I found an Acer 18.5 inch screen monitor for $105 to replace it.  Although the cost was a bit more than I wanted to spend, it was one of the cheaper flat screen LCD monitors on the market, and has proven to be a good buy. 

Since this Acer monitor is a flat screen it easily fits on my desk. The back extends out only about 4 inches and the V-shaped base easily slides in the bottom.  It was very easy to assemble and hook up. 

The screen is very clear and has good colors, contrast, and viewability. If you want the Specs the guidebook included the following: 

• Contrast Ratio 10,000 to1
• 1366 X 768 Resolution
• 0.3mm pixel pitch
• 5 ms response time 

The monitor came with a Quick Start guide which was of minimal help in learning about the CRT.  It only has a small diagram showing how the wires are arranged and safety instruction. An included CD was more useful in learning how to change the screen controls. 

One thing I don't really like on this Acer monitor is the screen controls.  There are small toggle switches underneath the front of the screen that are not user friendly. It took me a while to figure out how to adjust the wide screen for standard-size internet pages so they were all stretched out looking (you need an Apsect setting). 

This is Acer LCD model# X183H. They make a number of other models that are quite similar in size and features as well.  Overall I am happy with the Acer flat screen LCD monitor.  It has a clear, clean screen, good color resolution, and was not too expensive (compared to others). I'll give it 4 stars are recommend.
