Having suffered from serious acne for years on end, my doctor finally reccomended that I try out Accutane. Given the typical side effects, getting a prescription for Accutane is a bit of a difficult process but well worth the effort.  If you are female, you will have to take a pregnancy test and go...

Accutane is a very serious medication for the treatment of severe or resistant acne.  It causes rapid turn over of the skin and shuts off oil production (temporarily).  I started Accutane when I was eighteen years old after failed treatments for my moderate acne.  I say this is a very serious medication...

an alergy sufferer, Tried this medication

I never had horrible acne, but it was enough to make me feel self-conscious. I tended to get large, red bumps on my forehead, chin, and along my hairline. My main problem though, was getting pimples on my chest and back - I was embarrassed to wear swimsuits or tank tops. I went to see my dermatologist, and she tried me on a different acne medication, which did nothing. Then she suggested Accutane, which worked miraculously. Within a few months, my acne had cleared up completely, with only the occasional spot popping up on my face.

Accutane is basically a form of vitamin A, which reduces the oil...

I was very skeptical at trying Accutane. I was kind of a last resort after trying all kinds of antibiotic acne pills and creams from the dermatologist. Then I was put on Accutane, it didn't seem to do much within the first month but after the second month my face was dried out. When the dermatologists said moisturize and use chapstick a lot, they sure mean it. The fact that my skin was very dry did make me self conscious but towards the end of my Accutane treatment, my face was looking great. It is a risky medicine to be on because of the likelyhood of becoming depressed and also having to get...

Accutane, which has many generic forms, is a strong Vitamin A derivitive use to treat moderate to severe acne. It was the only thing that saved my skin, and truly changed my life!

All through high school and college, I would occasionally have break-outs, but nothing major. Then, at about 24 my skin began to break out MAJORLY. I am in the fashion industry, which is more image conscious than most types of jobs as you can imagine! My skin got so bad, I was actually staying home because I was too embarrassed to go out. I tried everything. I mean everything, and hundreds of dollars later my skin...

After traveling back and forth from the dermatologist for almost a year with mild acne, my dermatologist decided Accutane was right for me. I swear the I tried every acne wash, cream, gel and even pill before I finally got to experience Accutane for myself. I had to do a ton a paperwork to get on it and since I took it, they require much more. At this point it is almost impossible for women to get on because there are life treating birth defects as a direct result of Accutane. When I was on it I just had to vow that I was abstinent, and at 14 that is believable.

At first, my acne seemed to get...

I used Accutane. It is a somewhat scary drug, had to get blood drawn every month or every few weeks which I hated doing. My face got so dry  in parts it was flaking and  it looked disgusting, which was more embarrassing than the mild acne I had. I didn't realy need to take this medication, but my dermatologist wanted to get rid of my acne for good. It did seem to do that. It just is a serious decision and should be given a lot of consideration before going through with it. Also of course you can't get pregnant during this, that wasn't possible anyways at the time but reading the literature about...

After trying every OTC acne product and every oral acne medication, I finally gave in and went on Accutane for 6 months.  I was suffering from Adult Nodular Cystic Acne that was getting progressively worse.  I suffered through the drying side effects and the 20 pound weight gain but it was all worth it.  My skin is clear and smooth and I have not had a single blemish in 6 months.  This drug was truly a miracle drug for me.
