AVG Antivirus Freeoffers one of the most popular free security solution available to home users.  AVG Free has proven to be one of the most dependable free anti-virus software downloads available to home users by providing a high level of virus detection capability.

The AVG Virus Program is an outstanding piece of software. These are just some of the reasons I like it:

1. Ease of use
2. Easy to scan computer at any time
3. Does not take a large amount or hard drive space.

If you are looking for free virus software, I recommend AVG Free Edition.

As soon as I installed the program and ran the virus scan, it found viruses I didn't even know I had. Such as Trojan horses, Ad-ware, Spy-ware and Tracking Cookies.

Here are some of its features:

1. Anti Virus Protection
2. Anti Spy-ware
3. On The Scene Email Scanner

I only have two cons for this program:

1. It does take more...

We have always used Norton Anti-virus software at work, but sometimes that isn't an option for home use.  While you should always have your computer protected in today's world of internet hacking and viruses, the quality of software that you can purchase varies.  When I asked an IT guy at work years ago what program he uses, he told me he used AVG Home Edition Anti-Virus Software.  I asked him why and he said because it is free and the software is good.  He also stated that the company keeps the program up to date and provides excellent customer support.  That sold me!

AVG Home Edition Anti-Virus...

I have been a fan of AVG for a long time.  They actually had bought out a company called Edwido.  I downloaded their software for the first time in excess of five years ago.  Its a good free backup in addition to what you have downloaded already on your coputer for virus, adaware, and malware protection.  AVG picks up items that your current software may not detect and asks you if you are ready to get rid of it and then does so all in a safe, self-contained way so that an inexperienced user will not damage his or her computer.  I would certainly recommend this company to both advanced and...

AVG anti-virus software is the best free anti-virus software I've used. I have used a lot of anti-virus softwares, free and paid, and AVG stands out in various aspects; it's user friendly, it has daily updates, so it has the most efficient virus database I've experienced, doesn't take much hard drive space, you can run scans whenever needed or you can schedule your scans and much other characteristics, but one of the best it's the e-mail scanning.

The best part of AVG is that it's free, and so easy to use for those of us that aren't very tech-savvy, it really is best experience I've ever had with...

Almost all computers these days come with a free demo of Norton Antivirus. Dont be bamboozled. Norton is expensive and glitchy. Remove those annoying programs, and download Grisoft's AVG Free. Its very easy to use, very accurate and for the home user, ALWAYS FREE. If , heavens to Betsy, you do pick up a virus surfing online, a huge pop up , complete with ugly monster face appears, you certainly can't miss it, and guides you through fixing the problem right away. Its the best home anti virus protection out there.

the AVG antivirus free edition is not bad for what  you pay for.  it will keep the bugs away MOST of the time. but beware, it will let in spam that is associated with AVG (but this is normal from any Anti-virus tho)  I do however think that this is one of the best FREE Anti-virus on the market.

I've been using Grisoft's AVG Free Edition for eight years. Throughout the years the software has become a bit "bloaty" (computer resources hoggy), and takes an awful lot of time to load at start up on the laptop I most often use.

That said, this is a free product, after all, and has spared me a good deal of grief over the years in terms of virus-flavor-of-the-month. Scares the daylights out of me when it does spot a bugged file and pops up *out of nowhere* a dire virus ALERT! That's a configurable feature (thankfully) alongside many other configurables in this very nice, reliable, free software....

I start out but downloading the AVG antivirus Free Edition after a friend of mine suggested it for my computer.  I was not very computer savvy at the time and was worried if the program would be too complicated for me to follow.  To my surprise I found it very easy to use and was surprised to find so many threats on my computer that was not even aware of.

Removing the threats were easy also.  One thing I really liked about this program was that even a computer illiterate person such as myself could scan and remove threats and viruses from my computer with ease.

Another feature that is...

I've been working with computers for 10 years and I put this on every one that I touch.  So many people come to me with "my computer is slow and I don't have money for a new one".  Well this one's free, works just as good and won't bog down your system with bloated garbage running behind the scenes so you may not even need a new one or can at least get a few more laps out of it.  I garauntee that if you have Norton or McAfee or whatever else that you will see a speed increase when you switch to AVG.  I've never had a single file lost due to a virus while running AVG.  The virus definitions...

A friend of ours who works in a networking job told us about the AVG Antivirus Free Edition. He said it worked alot better than McAfee and Norton. He told us that McAffee and Norton drags down your system and uses too much of you memory on the computer. He told us that the AVG Antivirus Free Edition  worked better, faster and does not bog down your computer. We decided to try it out. It was really easy to uniinstall our other software and download the free software. Bonus that it is free and you do not have to pay $40 to $60 dollars a year for antiviris programs. When we first loaded the program...

With AVG antivirus I have been problem free. I like the way it detects any virus or adware and stops it before it can even enter my system. Since I installed this software I have been alerted every time a Trojan or a dangerous tracking system is trying to enter my PC. The virus vault catches the problem and keeps it there until you have the time to empty your vault, the less dangerous is confined and deleted without any problems. This is one of the best investments that I have made. I have to have my PC in good working order as it is necessary for my employment. So far this antivirus has... read full review »

AVG Antivirus Free Edition is a solid member of the security software community.

AVG is an easy install. Grisoft (the developer) has figured out how to uninstall the previous version more fluidly than its paid competitors ... something that should make the novice happy. It has consistently high ratings for performance, and with version 8, includes an anti-spyware module as well.

The major detraction to AVG is its chronic attempt to update dialup users before an internet connection is established, and the resulting "failure" message. While this message can be disabled, this is not intuitive.

Home business...

I really like how AVG works for a free system, it really keeps a lot out of my computer.  However, it still has some short comings.  I am not sure if it's my computer or AVG or both, but so much of the time the scan takes way too long and during its operation my computer slows down.  I know I need to expand the RAM, if I could just afford it.  Anyway, it starts at 12:00 nn and can anywhere to another 3 to 8 hours or so, ending as early at 4:00 PM, but has ran for as long as from noon to 10:00 PM.  I know it can't be all my computer.  Why does it take so long sometimes?  I wish I knew?

The AGV antivirus has been the best antivirus I've had.  In the past I've had other antiviruses that I paid for and they don't work as good as the AVG free antivirus.  It has keep my computers virus free for several years now.  I think it is the best and to top it off it is free.  I have installed it on both of my computers, my daughters, my sister in laws and several friends computers.  They all love it, it has found several trojan viruses and other viruses that we have picked up, it will find them contain them and has prevented the comlputer from crashing on many occasions.  I think its...
