We have always used Norton Anti-virus software at work, but sometimes that isn't an option for home use.  While you should always have your computer protected in today's world of internet hacking and viruses, the quality of software that you can purchase varies.  When I asked an IT guy at work years ago what program he uses, he told me he used AVG Home Edition Anti-Virus Software.  I asked him why and he said because it is free and the software is good.  He also stated that the company keeps the program up to date and provides excellent customer support.  That sold me!

My Thoughts on AVG Free Home Edition

The best thing about AVG Home Edition Anti-Virus Software is that it is totally free.  The product works and keeps your computer from becoming infected by internet viruses and spyware.

AVE also has more advanced anti-virus software that provides additional security that would be good if you are running a server or running a website that hosts a store, needing secure shopping features.

The one disadvantage of using the free version is that you don't have customer support readily available.  The company does provide support to all advanced users of the anti-virus software.  However, in the times that I have used this software on my computer, I haven't needed any customer support.  Installation is easy and instructions are easy to understand making the whole AVG experience a good one!
