AVG 7 Free was the worst thing I could have ever downloaded and put on my computer. It runs a scan on startup that takes up 90-99% of your process power, slowing computers down to near death. AVG antivirus is the best that I have found.  It doesn't slow down your computer (as long as your not using the firewall portion).  It has an automated updates and scheduled scans and it is easy to use.  I always recommend this antivirus to all my friends and clients.  I have used it and compared it to McAfee and Trend Micro Office scan and it beats both of them hands down.  (AVG found viruses that the other two missed!).  I've tested it on machines at my work (I work in education) as well as at home and I don't think it can be beat.  The latest version has spyware detection and a firewall. ... read full review »

As an IT professional, i've dealed with a lot of antivirus programs in the past. Most of them, filled with spyware, very resource-heavy, slow, expensive...

AVG free is the magic solution for all of this.
It provides free automatic updates. Runs on almost every machine and OS. It's quiet (ideal for those persons who get panicked when a "VIRUS DETECTED" window appears!) and effective. It provides integration with most e-mail programs. It doesn't consume many resources. It can do a full scan of your computer in half the time of almost every other antivirus... What else are you looking for?

This is the best virus protector I have ever used plus it's free!  It has found and gotten rid of more viruses on my computer than the other ones I have used, Norton being one of them.  No spyware has it's pros and cons.  I just use a spybot occasionally to scan mine.  I also like that it is easy to turn my firewall off and on as needed.  I have already recommended this to my friends and have most of them using it.  It gets a big five stars with me!

It was suggested to  me 2yrs ago and I haven't looked back since. I downloaded the program onto a cd so I didn't have to go looking for it when I needed it. I've used Norton's and McCaffee and they don't compare to AVG. When the viruses are hitting left and right I know that AVG is going to stop them. I had Norton on my laptop before I installed this and it let a virus through that I did not know about. When I installed AVG it found the virus right away.

I have all my family and friends using this software now and they are just as pleased as I am.

Highly recommend it.

Purchased AVG Internet Security Suite, the "Iron clad security that does't slow your system down".  Slowed my system to a crawl. This is a 4 G Vista system.  Program was constantly scanning.  Despite the scheduled scans, it scanned constantly.  Shut the scan down, it would start again.  Over two week period I have emailed the 24/7 support center four times.  All I received was a computer generated msg acknowlegeing my email, not a word from a real human.  Buyer beware!  If you have a problem, you have no, nada, zero support!

A friend of mine, who is a computer "geek", told me about this and downloaded it into my computer.  I had Norton Anti-virus before and every time it was time to re-new the price would go up.  I have had AVG on my computer for several years now and have never had any type of virus.  My son recently bought a laptop and the first thing I did for him was download AVG.  I also subscribe to a computer newsletter written by a lady who builds and repairs computers.  She highly recommends AVG also.

The latest Version of AVG free antivirus is a excellent value.  It does real time scanning, email scanning, ahd gives you automatic updates.  It does all this with a much smaller drain on the system Resouces the Norton or Macfee.  I definitly suggest it if you are running an old computer as the other two Antiviruses can bring older computers to a crawl.  I believe a n antivirus is a program that should protect a Computer without draining all the resources while doing it and AVG free fits the bill.

AVG's free anti-virus program is just simply the best.  It works in the background without being obtrusive and using up my computer's resources.  The control panel is easy to use and informative.  I have bought and used other anti-virus software in the past. Most  were adequate but they eventually became costly and charged for updates.  AVG has free updates and is the one I would recomend to anyone.  The best thing about it...it's Free!

I have had AVG Antivirus for awhile now and can honestly say it delivers.  I don't understand while anybody would pay for antivirus software when theres AVG, an effective easy to use antivirus program.  If your looking for an antivirus program that will work and prevent malicious activity on your computer, go with AVG.  Dont spend money on norton.  Norton will slow your computer WAY done and McAfee just blows period.  McAfee seemed ineffective when i used it.

Free AVG antivirus is by FAR the best free anti-virus on the market. It's detection rates are decent, and does not hog all your system resources. It's automatic update system isn't the greatest, but it works, and you definitely can't argue with the price. It does have some scheduling ability and flexibility, and also is compatible with internet email in outlook and other popular email programs. If you're looking for a serviceable AV program that free, look no further.

After purchasing a competitors software for spyware, one of the IT guys taught me about AGV free.  I love it!!!  I have both the AGV free & the AGV spyware & they keep my system running smoothly.  I didnt renew my other spyware.  Why bother to fill their pockets when you can get this quality software free.  When its recommended by professionals in the field over other software, thats a great endorsment in my opinion.

Avg is one of the best Antivirus out. I have talked to a number of techie people who recommand AVG free. I am a techie and i have also recommand this program. it works with vista which is good but for now i dont know good it works because i havent had any virus with vista YET. i love that its free and that it stays uptodate. If you don't have an antivirus then this is the one for you. How can you beat Free.
