As an IT professional, i've dealed with a lot of antivirus programs in the past. Most of them, filled with spyware, very resource-heavy, slow, expensive...AVG free is the magic solution for all of this.
It provides free automatic updates. Runs on almost every machine and OS. It's quiet (ideal for those persons who get panicked when a "VIRUS DETECTED" window appears!) and effective. It provides integration with most e-mail programs. It doesn't consume many resources. It can do a full scan of your computer in half the time of almost every other antivirus... What else are you looking for?
