AVG Free Edition —

I was too cheap to get virus protection for my computer so I was thankful to read about AVG Free Edition on email lists. This free anti-virus protection is at http://free.grisoft.com/ and is easy to download. It constantly updates and lets you know if something needs to be done. It is represented by a box on the desktop, and the icon is normally different colors. It turns dark when it needs your attention. AVG just recently alerted me to a virus when I visited a website. Since I've had it, I've probably been notified of five viruses. It will also scan email. Sometimes, you will get emails that read it has been scanned by AVG. It doesn't slow down the computer, and it will not try to get you to buy anything. There is a paid version, but I'm satisfied with this one, and it recommended by the computer expert in my local newspaper.

My husband says I have a talent for attracting viruses online. He says he has never seen anyone besides a friend of his have so many viruses on their computer. I got tired of reformatting my computer. I had Norton and it was letting the viruses in! I installed AVG and it alerted me to all of my viruses and I haven't had to reformat since. I am going to reformat now, but it isn't because of viruses, it is because I have another computer now and I need to wipe to the drive to put in in the other computer. I highly recommend AVG free edition....I can only imagine what the paid version does.

I have to free ones and I pay for one! I've had a virus in the past and never want to go through that again! Jo

I love AVG. I am constantly downloading things and it protects me extremely well. I haven't had a single virus since I installed it over a year ago.

I have had AVG for a long time and it's fine. It doesn't interfere with what I am doing but always alerts me of threats. I am not as big a fan of their ad/spyware program. I prefer Microsoft's Ad-Adware for that. But for antivirus stuff, AVG works as well as the ones I have paid for!

I first found out about AVG from a friend who works as a systems analyst. I figured if he used it on his own PC, it had to be good enough for me. That was several years ago, and two PCs ago, and AVG hasn't failed me yet. Good review!
