AVG Free Edition —

AVG antivirus is the best that I have found.  It doesn't slow down your computer (as long as your not using the firewall portion).  It has an automated updates and scheduled scans and it is easy to use.  I always recommend this antivirus to all my friends and clients.  I have used it and compared it to McAfee and Trend Micro Office scan and it beats both of them hands down.  (AVG found viruses that the other two missed!).  I've tested it on machines at my work (I work in education) as well as at home and I don't think it can be beat.  The latest version has spyware detection and a firewall.  However, I recommend against the firewall unless you really know what you are doing as it has blocked access to some needed areas.
