I agree with you especially the part where you said: "this company who will happily take your money, shut off your service, and smile when they need to be forthcoming in their efforts to please a consumer, without compensation to damages" I agree whole heartedly. While I didn't have to switch the service to another name they did disconnect all my services the day I received a "late payment reminder" email. I called and after a few hours of rude customer service reps and collections reps (apparently they don't like being called all the same thing) I finally got a manager online to tell me what they did was wrong and he reinstated all my stuff. That was in April. In May I found out that they changed my long distance plan, then I found out my long distance just stopped working and that it was a inside problem that needed to be fixed, then they wouldn't accept my payment online and actually wouldn't help me on the phone, I tried to submit payment so many times my bank called me with a fraud alert!!! This month I again tried to pay the phone online and once again payment failed on AT&T's end but it's pending in my bank...
