My fiance and I had  to transfer the phone/internet/satellite services into my name. Unbeknownst to us, this entails a complete deactivation of all services and access to internet. For approximately three weeks, we had no internet; which is detrimental to the work I do, since its primarily done via internet/email.  Each week, ATT/SBC yahoo promised our orders would be completed from hours to a few days later. To which, each time the said time was upon us, none of our service was reinstated. In this age of technology, how difficicult is it to 'backspace" one's name and add another? Apparently, they have to deactivate everything, and then reactivate it thus resulting in a simple removal of his name. It has been almost a month, and we are still having internet connection problems, and when we call them, are on the phone for hours at a time. We have spent literally days on the phone with these people. When asked what will be done for us, the consumer who are paying for services for which are not being rendered, they offered a five dollar credit a month for ten months. hardly an attempt to please the consumer! When I called them, once the name change was to be said completed, I was asked who else is on the account, and they couldnt help me without my fiance's name! What?! Are you kidding?! We are still dealing with this company who will happily take your money, shut off your service, and smile when they need to be forthcoming in their efforts to please a consumer, without compensation to damages! This company's concern has proved to be for the betterment of  their pockets!! Not the customer.. which without people like us, they would not have a business!

I agree with you especially the part where you said: "this company who will happily take your money, shut off your service, and smile when they need to be forthcoming in their efforts to please a consumer, without compensation to damages" I agree whole heartedly. While I didn't have to switch the service to another name they did disconnect all my services the day I received a "late payment reminder" email. I called and after a few hours of rude customer service reps and collections reps (apparently they don't like being called all the same thing) I finally got a manager online to tell me what they did was wrong and he reinstated all my stuff. That was in April. In May I found out that they changed my long distance plan, then I found out my long distance just stopped working and that it was a inside problem that needed to be fixed, then they wouldn't accept my payment online and actually wouldn't help me on the phone, I tried to submit payment so many times my bank called me with a fraud alert!!! This month I again tried to pay the phone online and once again payment failed on AT&T's end but it's pending in my bank...
