ATT- BEWARE PHONE SERVICES and BILLING

looking for things that make life easier, a lover of natural products, daily computer user
Cons
    BAD Billing & Customer Service, occasional dropped calls, Customer service extremely slow.

AT&T — 

Folks please beware if you are an ATT customer-formerly Cingular.
I sure wish cingular would not have sold me out to ATT.
If you read this and have a recommendation for a good phone company please tell me
your point of view !
Yesterday I received a "courtesy call" from ATT telling me both of my phones were
being turned off immediately ! they said I owed two months on my cell & home phones.
I also have my 82 yr. old Mother on the Family Cell Plan.
ATT Courtesy caller was rude, did not even verify my account info when I told the lady she
was making a mistake-she got irate at me !
 After I realized I was in a shouting match with her I demanded a Supervisor that could
 give me a Fax number to show proof of payment. After being on hold for 15 min. and transferred several times-each time another 10 minute hold
FINALLY a Supervisor that was professional and very apologetic telling me I had been a customer since 1996 (actually 1989-their records don't go back that far) without changing my number or ever having services shut off. CINGULAR WAS WONDERFUL !
Ha Ha 1989 that is when a Cell Phone weighed 2 lbs.and you had to carry it around in a bag.
ATT is TERRIBLE -they are also doing this to many other people I know that have
excellent payment records. While they threaten you they ask you to buy other services !
To correct this situation it took several hours of being on hold and passed from
Serv. Rep to Service Rep. Thank God I bank online and could print confirmation numbers
of all six payments that I had indeed made on time.
Please help me find a new Phone Company....Any suggestions ?

This same thing happened to me! I have almost everything with At&t, home phone, long distance, internet and now wireless! I was even considering getting the new digital tv Uverse next year when my satellite contract ends! They suspended my cell and internet service on the 2nd of April, then canceled everything except my land line on the 4th! To get it all turned back on they wanted deposits left and right but that was only after 2 1/2 hours and 4 rude customer service reps 1 very helpful customer service rep (who lost me) and the manager who fixed it all... for free! He told me what the usual procedure is and that the only reason they fixed it was because of the fact that the payments dept didn't follow proper procedure! Today I get an order confirmation saying that they canceled all my phone features and changed my long distance plan from the cheaper one I previously had to the more expensive one! And the customer service rep said they didn't need my permission, and that 1 day after suspension my account is subject to complete termination. Now, At&t can't be trusted in my book. I need advice on a new provider... anyone...

I had AT & T for my 1st cell experience & was very upset to hear Cingular was selling out to them. I also have had several calls to my home both just BEFORE my bill was due & after saying they needed immeadiate payment. I'm not always early but I have always paid my bills by due date. I really don't appriciate being treated like this & am seeking another company once my contract is expired. I also have noticed more lost calls. My mother in law has Verizon & seems to be satisfied but I've heard some good things about Alltel.

I had a horrible experience with ATT too. Customer service is a joke. Very rude!
