I made the mistake of leaving TMobile to join Cingular b/c of the family network.  I also made the mistake of not checking consumer reports prior to signing up.  If you look up consumer reports, you will see Cingular/ATT is rated one of the worst providers.  My experience has been less than mediocre.  Salesperson at the store I have come to find out was spitting out one lie after another.  Got the highest plan b/c told if it was too much, we would rack up rollover minutes and have them for the future (apparently you lose all your rollover minutes when you downsize your plan to only the amount of minutes your new plan includes).  International calls were 99 cents.  (Try $1.99 if you pay the montly fee - this is the reduced rate).  Many other issues from the sales rep, but too many to cover.  I find their commercials hypocritical - "least dropped calls"  needs to be revised to "most dropped calls".  "More bars in more places..." needs to be changed to "you'll have trouble getting bars in a major metropolitan city"  Calling in is a joke b/c not only will you be on hold longer than you're in conversation, you'll be passed on to at least 3 different people (some of whom don't speak English clearly), and no 2 service reps will state the same thing.  And rude is an understatement.  "customer service" is a foreign concept w/this company.   My phone turned off on its own when i only had it for approximately 5 hours.  I called in and of course, it's not the phone or the service, its something i may have done.  All of my family members have had constant issues of one person not being able to hear the other from the onset when we call one another (this happens almost daily).  This is not a service or phone issue either, its that me, my husband, 2 brothers & their wives, mother and father seem to be in a bad area all the time, even though most if not all my bars are up.  Will never acknowledge their service may be faulty.  Dropped calls often, but there has "never been a complaint like this before" so it must be me.  After about 7-8 calls over a year's time I finally came across someone who immediately stated it was the phone I had (this is apparantly a common problem with the Samsungs) and b/c it was under warrenty, I can just go to the schaumburg location and get myself a new phone.  huh?????   yes, it was that simple.  (Although i did have to call in at a later time to get the address b/c i couldn't find the location and the 2 people i spoke with had no idea what i was looking for but could give me a list of stores in the area if i wished).  I finally found it, got my new phone and now the only issue is that it vibrates nonstop at random times for no reason at all until I turn it off.   Yes, my contract will end and that is a date I am very much looking forward to.
