AT&T - UVerse Service Review Summary

Our reviewers were more than pleased with their AT&T U-Verse Service and gave it some very high ratings. What was it that they loved so much? “The picture on all our sets is visibly better than our Charter ever was.” Another reviewer agrees saying that the “picture is beautiful and channel selection awesome.” Another important factor was the excellent customer service that AT&T U-Verse offered their customers. Whether it was sending out repairmen or crediting customers for any service interruptions, our reviewers were very pleased with AT&T U-Verse compared with other cable companies that they’ve had to deal with. Of course, service interruptions are rare, “it hasn’t frozen up on us once” reports a happy reviewer. Reviewers who were less satisfied warn to look out for hidden charges and at least one reviewer reports not receiving their rebate. Want to see what else is out there? I am not much of a television or movie watcher, but my wife is.  I am a computer professional and have had DSL since it has been available in my area since the late 1990's.  We have had Pacbell/SBC/ATT landline service and DSL since then.  Our cable company has been Charter and while programming has...

I ordered AT&T u-verse 4 months ago. The package I got was u-verse on two tvs, dvr, and high speed internet, about $100 a month.

the installation: (after changing the arrival times and/or not even showing up) The first guy that came out took 4 hours, just to tell us they needed to run a new line. The...

I've been waiting to get AT&T's newest bundle, U-verse, since they first came out with it towards the beginning of the year. Before I go any further with this review, I will be honest and mention that my husband is an employee for U-verse and is in fact in management. Yet stating that, I also feel I can be honest about my opinions of the product and the service.

U-verse combines three services, phone, cable TV, and internet, not only just in one bundle, but also all feeding off the phone line and off of one wireless router connected to your computer. Because of this, it allows everything to inter-connect....

Just switched from Comcast to the UVerse 400 package with HD programming.  I also have the elite 6MB Internet, and Uverse phone service.  I can't believe that I've been settling for the crappy tv service with Comcase after seeing this UVerse..... its incredible!!!

For starters, I'm paying about the same for the triple play as I was with Comcast; however, I'm getting about 150 more channels, HD service, DVR included, and another receiver for about the same price I was paying Comcast, and the UVerse tv is AWESOME!

I have never had a signal like this with Comcast.  I have a 47 inch 1080P 120hz...

I switched from Directv to try U-Verse and am going back to Directv after 2 weeks of U-Verse.  In my opinion the biggest cons of U-Verse compared to satellite other than those briefly listed above are:

What is worth mentioning again is you get only ONE DVR per household.  Any other boxes in the house can't pause, rewind or fast forward live TV.  This is the single biggest drawback.

When programing the favorites guide, you can't enter a specific channel.  You must page down through all the channels.  Very unhandy as the HD channels start with number 1000.

Your customized favorites guide can't...

Bottom-Line: AT&T's U-Verse Service is a solid winner in my book and well worth the costs.

No longer willing to put up with the Dish, we recently had AT&T U-Verse installed (we opted for the HD digital cable service and broadband Internet) and so far the results are spectacular!

Installation

Free Installation of the U-Verse Service took about three hours to complete (not unheard of) and involved the running of coax cable, installation and setup of the router/modem, and finally the installation/turn-up of the individual cable receivers including a DVR.  Because we watch HBO and Showtime...

I've had AT&T for my phone line for years, but always used Charter for cable.  Then a UVerse sales manager knocked on my door, offered me (what seemed like) a great deal, and I decided to switch to UVerse.

Theoretical Pros:

bundling can save money

watch DVR'd shows from any TV

faster internet speed

Here's the reality:

The installation was a nightmare.  They didn't tell me that you have to rent a cable box for each TV--with Charter, they only make you rent one.  (Plus, rent is 2 bucks more for ATT.)  So much for saving money with the bundle--I have to rent 3 more cable boxes to get...

My partner and I have AT&T land-phone, cell-phone and Internet/DSL service in our apartment. Last fall, we decided to upgrade to AT&T's U-verse package including cable TV and higher-speed Internet service. So we scheduled a U-verse installation in our apartment for the end of 2008. When the technician came for the installation, he told my partner he could not install U-verse, due to inadequate wiring going into our apartment building.

Within a few days, we got a call from AT&T offering to reschedule the U-verse installation; the AT&T rep claimed the installation was still technically possible!...

I have been a Time Warner Cable customer my entire life and when I saw that with AT&T UVerse I only needed 1 DVR and saw some of the cool features (i.e. Guide) I thought i'd give them a try.

First, installation literally took about 6 hours. The AT&T guy was nice however he just couldn't get the system to work properly. He tried everything and and the image i was getting was very bad, looked like a scratched tv. He ended up telling me that he would need to come back in a few days to try to fix it. I had to call him for a few days until he finally came back. He ended up doing some work that was...

I eagerly ordered AT & T U verse in Houston  and waited happily for it to be set up...and then I embarked on a nightmare experience. Because of my work schedule Installation was only available 3-4 weeks after I placed it on a Saturday. I rearranged my day and waited at home- no one showed up. I called customer service to get an update- that was a disaster- I got bounced about multiple departments, someone finally gave me a number to 'dispatch' turned out to be a fax number- tried again got transferred to 'dispatch'  after a waiting period got disconnected, tried again- got put on hold for...

For the first three months, I got an extra $100-150 per month in hidden fees for install, admin fees, etc. Also, the sat. TV kept on loosing signal, even after two tech visits, and part replacement. after about 5 months of sorting things out, service is very good. Still never got the rebates they told me I would get for setting up a package deal. (sat TV, cell, Land Line, long distance, & DSL.

I thought wow i can finally escape the Comcast beast, only to get even worse service at a higher price. HD is complete trash. Customer service likewise a waste of time. I actually had a rep in miami a Ms. Hernandez suggest i switch back to comcast as the service in Florida was not good. Thats from an employee !!!!!!
Really i'm no fan of comcast but the picture quality for the price is without compare

AT&T U-verse parent controls DO NOT allow parents to block access to Video on Demand selections as they say.  Even with parent controls in place, children may freely browse through on Video On Demand in the video store selection under the section "events on demand" 45 UNCENSORED movie titles with their accompanied porn like DVD cover pictures.  They may also browse under the "Adult Video" section 212 x-rated type videos with titles such as "Best Hardest Sex" with their accompanied porn like DVD cover pictures. They call this parent controls; not really so.

ATT&T U-verse makes certain that when...

I recently switched from my local cable provider to Uverse and could not be happy.  After years of paying high monthly fees for programming that I did not want I finally found a provider that offers me everything for a very reasonable monthly price.   I love the DVR ability, the exceptional terrific picture quality and of course the cost.

I have been using AT&T U-Verse for about 2 months now and in that time I have spent countless hours dealing with a number of problems. As a former quality assurance analyst and current IT professional, I have really developed quite a hatred for this service for a number of reasons.

First off I have found that the wireless service is "Acceptable" at best. Certainly do not expect to be playing any online games without massive frame loss. Secondly, in order to solve the first problem, I had asked for a wired connection to at least one computer. Here is where things got realy interesting for me. They...
