I switched from Directv to try U-Verse and am going back to Directv after 2 weeks of U-Verse. In my opinion the biggest cons of U-Verse compared to satellite other than those briefly listed above are:
What is worth mentioning again is you get only ONE DVR per household. Any other boxes in the house can't pause, rewind or fast forward live TV. This is the single biggest drawback.
When programing the favorites guide, you can't enter a specific channel. You must page down through all the channels. Very unhandy as the HD channels start with number 1000.
Your customized favorites guide can't be your default guide. You have to hit the menu button, then favorites. Also, when you go from live TV to your favorites guide, the guide doesn't start with the channel you are watching.
When watching free video on demand you must scroll through all the menu options again before getting to the show you watching before if you don't watch it all at once.
If you are watching a live TV program, switch to a recorded program, then back to live TV and haven't changed the channel, it has stopped recording the live channel, i.e you can't rewind and see what you missed as you can with satellite.
No screen saver is an issue for plasma owners because of screen burn in.
I woudn't recommend this to other Directv subscribers.
