My husband and I purchased this laptop when our old Dell laptop died on us.  We wanted something that not only could we take with us when we travel, but also that we could easily take room to room in our house.  At the same time, we wanted something that could double as a dvd player for our daughter when we travel.  This laptop had the highest ratings for the price and battery life.  It works great.  While it is heavier than I would like, it isn't too heavy to take with us on carry on luggage with a two year old.  The only complaint I do have is how hot the computer tends to get, along with how sensitive the touch pad tends to be. All in all, this laptop is a good value.  It is not the best on the market, but it also isn't the worst.  If you are looking for something that is easy to use and covers several bases, this is the one.  It is also pretty durable, it stands up to our two year old great!

netbooks are great if you travel a lot. THankfully asus has a great deal of experience in buildilng them, considering they came up with the first generation and were pioneers in the field. Basically the idea is to have a small cheap, portable computer that can do 75% of the stuff you can do on the large computer. It is much easier to have a small portable netbook than to have a large heavy laptop when traveling. Considering if all you need is internet, word processing, skype, powerpoint, excel, and light multimedia, then a netbook is perfect for you as a second PC. there are faster models out there, however none will have the battery life this little sucker has. On top of that, asus put in a great LCD for this model...making things easier to see on a cramped airplane via increased viewing angles.  Only improvement i can think of is a backlit keyboard for typing in dark rooms. Otherwise, everything you'd need if you travel a lot.

With 12 inches of screen and a quick 1.6ghz dual core N450 processor, the Asus 1201 is extremely fast for a netbook. Add in the ability to upgrade to 4GB of ram and the included Nvidia Ion graphics and this netbook performs more like a mini-laptop. The 1201 can multitask without effort. Opening multiple browser tabs while listening to music and word processing is extremely easy. Running modern games on low to medium settings is efficient and an added bonus from a netbook. The lightweight frame and bright 12 inch screen provide easy portability while still providing a large enough screen. 3 USB ports, HDMI out, and PC out allow for multiple devices to be connected and utilized. The only con to this netbook is due to the amount of power it has, even on low settings, the battery will last only around 3.5 hours at most. However, if you're looking for something portable that does not sacrifice power, this is it.

I bought this netbook because I was looking for something simple, but still considered to be a good device. I didn't want or need a disc drive. I was looking for something that would have the capability of both the internet and microsoft works. I got what I wanted, and was happy to realize that the wireless internet worked on it superbly. I would recommend to any first time buyer, that this is a great starting computer. I also feel that it is more than effective for writers and anyone else who needs a computer to keep notes and information on.

My husband was going back to school for a few classes, and since we only had a desktop computer at home, we figured we would save a little money and go with a less expensive netbook over a traditional laptop.  After a lot of research, we settled on this make and model, and it performs as expected.  It is not the top of the line, but it is small, light, and portable.  It easily hooks up to our main computer so he can see a bigger screen when he needs to.  He will be running CAD on it, and it does run a little slower when that is functioning, but it does not crash like we were afraid it might.  The screen is small, but for taking notes in class and getting internet access whenever he needs it, this machine is worth the money we saved instead of a normal laptop.  If I could change anything, I wish it ran a little faster and that it came with a netbook cooling pad, as this tends to overheat pretty quickly if we are not careful.

People say that netbooks are small and should/can only be used for email. that you cant play any major games on the computer (wrong because i play sims 2 on mines) and that the batterie wont last long, and just that it dosnt do as last as much as laptops do. Well with this netbook they couldn't be more wrong. The netbook allows me to do much more than just check my email. My sister's laptop's batterie life only last about 1 hour and she's had it for a year while my netbook lasts for 1 hours and 30 minutes and ive had it for half a year now. there are a few drawbacks such as not having a cd/dvd drive (but you can get and external one of those really cheap.) and not coming with more than 1gb of ram (but you can upgrade.) also its not good for hd videos or games that requie alot of processing speed and ram. but like i already said, you can always upgrade. but to end this review i'd like to say that this netbook isn't just for kids or for people who are "only checking their email". it's for anyone who wants something good for a pretty small price.

Ok i have been uswing this ASUS Eee pc for about nine month's now and i adore it. It's great for a first laptop and it has the biggest keyboard the desingers could fit on it. Im actualy typeing this reveiw on it now. The Eee pc has ok ram for its size mine has about 1.7 gig's of ram on it at the moment. The machine is exeptionaly fast great if you just want to surf the web, but if u would like to use a graphic's software you might have some problems. The computer has about three USB port's, one LAN port, and a monitor output, one charger port, and thats about it for the slot's and stuff. I have noticed the computers wireless range is very good it could find a network a fairly long distance away. so here are some of themain thing's you would want to know the machine is great for a first laptop, it is very small, has no CD drive just three USB port's, u can find the Eee pc very cheap on "newegg.com",and the computer is good for web surfing but not so great with graphic stuff oh and it cant play "world of warcraft". This netbook has a relatively large 12.1 inch screen and very responsive keyboard. It also has great battery life going almost 7 hours between charges. It's great for people on the go. Very light, yet comfortable to use, you don't have to squint to see the screen. It slips into your carry on bag very easily for travel and fits comfortably on your lap or airplane tray. I like it so much I use at home too instead of my bigger, heavier laptop. It's great for web surfing, email or whatever you want to do online.

  an excellent computer by far, one of the best ive ever owned, the lighting from the screen itself is amazeing, as is the sound quality, it sounds like your actully there. Not only that but the graphics system is also very good, and hightech. Its one of the best computers out there and at a low price its a great buy. The style of the computer and its core processor is also an amzeing choice, holding up its memory is an Intell, the most excellent brand so far. Its memory storage is great, ive had no problems with the computer since i bought it and i really enjoy it. Its compact and lightweight so its easy to travel with and easy to store away as well. If i had to choose between this and a mac id choose this hands down. Its such a good computer, its even waterproof. No matter how much memory is used on the computer it never slows down, and runs as smooth as silk. Its applications it comes with are easy to set up and use as well.
