Great new and Improved laptop

5

The laptop is a great and updated version. The operating system is amazing and incredibly fast. It has a wide but big screen that is nice for playing games. The battery also last a long time as well. Ease of Use The use of this laptop takes a bit to learn. When I first used it, it was hard to navigate. Once I learned how to use it, it was easier to navigate than I thought it would be. However, occasionally I still hit the keyboards on the laptop and have to restart typing since I hit the wrong button or key. The mouse on the actual laptop is sometimes frustrating because it is very easy to hit or accidentally use when I don't intend to. Battery Life The battery life is significantly longer than other laptops. I wouldn't say it's the best but it does last longer compared to other types of laptops. Speed/Performance Speed and performance are outstanding with this laptop. The first time I used it, I was really impressed.

Awesome product esp for price

I used to be such a brand snob and didn't think something was worth buying if it wasn't samsung or to toshiba or apple. Well I learned my lesson. After my dell laptop failed I went out and bought a toshiba laptop from best buy. Big mistake. Just over a year later I was back at the drawing table because that laptop just was not working. After some research and advice from coworkers I looked into an ASus laptop. I was really caught off guard by how much you could get for your money. I thought it was too good to be true. After reading stellar reviews online I went to compUSA to look at products in person. The quality of this laptop is up there with the other high end laptops that will cost sometimes double the money. This laptop is fast and doesn't slow down when performing many tasks at one time. It even held up to a toddler standing on it one day! More than a year later I could not be more pleased with this purchase. Ease of Use The new windows was not intuitive for me but not the laptops fault

Excellent all round laptop

The only thing that stops me giving this laptop a rating of 10 is the fact that I think the volume level should be higher. It's ok but not excellent like the rest of this superb and versatile little gem. Ease of Use It really is as simple as ABC Excellent Battery Life I have been amazed at the length of life of this battery. Superb Support & Service I've given it a rating of 10, but to be honest, I've never needed any support or service. This laptop has been so good. If the support and service is as good as the product, then it has to be a 10 Speed/Performance I mentioned the volume level above. It could be better. Design I really like the look of it. Durability It's traveled many places. It is durable.

You get what you pay for but aren't ripped off

Great laptop for someone on a real budget that wants to keep up with what most people in the budget marketplace would be looking to do, and the storage is fairly generous for the current laptopl lineup out there. The screen is on the lower side of average quality in terms of color reproduction, but family photos and videos and movies look great. At standard HD (1280 x 720) you're set for most media content online or DVDs. It is a glossy screen, which helps colors pop a bit more than otherwise but you do get some extra glare. The keyboard is a little squishy, but still more than usable for regular typing. In terms of battery life, you'll see three to four hours if you are careful of your usage, dimming the screen and disabling wifi. You won't want to use this for anything but the most basic of games, the integrated graphics card just can't handle anything else. It will run Windows and Linux just fine though! In terms of build quality, you get what you pay for here but you aren't being ripped off.

Asus A52F laptop is good-looking and awesome

I got this laptop off buy.com back in August 2010. Great price (around 500 bucks) and very satisfactory. I've been using it for school, and a lot of graphic designing. Often, I have Adobe's Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign open at the same time, along with a ton of other applications (including an internet browser with 10 or so tabs open). Still runs very quickly and smoothly. Also love its facial recognition feature. Very sleek design and looks great! Decent battery life and a good size if you want to carry it around.Came with a global warranty, but didn't need to use it. All in all, it's a great laptop, especially if you're like me and you want to do a lot of stuff and have a lot of programs open at once.

great budget laptop

The bad: the hard drive is a WD scorpio blue that is ~5400rpm and loud. It's fast enough for transferring large files, but the seek times are abysmal and that's what you feel the most... lag time between clicking and doing.  The monitor is okay but a bit low res by today's standards, 1366x768. But it's VERY well lit with a nice LED screen. The VGA built-in webcam is a joke. VGA is soooo 1990s. You will want to get your own external webcam. The video card is okay, it's actually integrated with the CPU and not a separate card. It can play 1080p video with ZERO problems. It can even do light gaming such as Flash-based games or very old games like Quake III. But for mainstream gaming, it is horrible. This is NOT a gaming laptop. The keyboard does flex a bit but it's not that hard to get used to it. The good: everything else! The CPU is a fast-enough P6100 which is roughly the same thing as a Core i3 at 2GHz, or a Core 2 at ~2.4-2.5 GHz. So unless you need a ton of processing power for some massive scientific program or game, it's enough. It's quiet all over, including the bottom. The weight is okay for its size, about 5.5 pounds including the battery. Battery life is about 3.5 hours. Comes with HDMI, Bluetooth, DVD player.

Great laptop for the money

I bought this laptop prior to black friday.  I'm very pleased with it especially for the price.  The A52F-XA1 is built solid, doesn't creak like many other laptops in this price range.  It's not too heavy for a 15.6" laptop, weighs right around 6lbs.  If you are looking for a laptop to just browse the internet, do some minor photo editing and running office applications, this is the perfect laptop.  The Intel p6100 is slightly slower than an the Core i3 equivalent, but in the real world you will hardly be able to tell.  The integrated INTEL graphics is adequate to output HD quality movies through the HDMI port.  This laptop is not good for gaming, but that's not what it was targeted for.  The keyboard takes some time to get used to if you are coming from an ultraportable laptop- the keys are slightly shifted to the left since it's a full-size keyboard with numeric pad and all.  The touchpad has a nice texture to it, it is not glossy like most laptops out there today so it doesnt show any smudges.  The webcam is low-res but the smartlogin face detection works well.  The screen quality is nice, evenly lit and bright.  The resolution could have been a tad bit higher but 1366x768 is still decent.  Battery life on this laptop is above average- I can get around 3:30-4 hours on the battery save setting.  I'm pleased with the battery life.     I've been using Asus laptops before they hit mainstream.  They are very reliable and built to last.  As long as you take care of it, keep it cool, dont bang it around- it will be good to you. I havent had any problems with mine and I expect to keep it for a while because Asus offers an additional 1 year warranty and accidental damage coverage for FREE if you register the laptop.   Can't beat that at this price point.
