This was the second wireless mike I bought. The first one, an Audio-Technica Pro 35X, came with the receiver and transmitting system from Samson, their wireless wind instrument system. On the initial unit, I paid extra for "true diversity" technology, which meant that the receiver has two antennas, and it select the strongest signal.
When I bought this, I was able to get the microphone plus transmitter for $369, because I didn't need another receiver. I did have to make sure I had a microphone with the right CHANNEL. After triple checking, I got the unit.
In terms of use, it's great. The transmitter runs on 1 AA battery. I check the mikes before a gig and make sure I have planty of spare batteries. I've also found that the sound works better when I am careful to have only one of the two wireless microphones on at once.
The microphone is extremely sensitive to dynamics. I'm told by professional musicians in my audiences that it sounds great. This is a slightly better quality microphone than the Pro 35x, so I use it on my main horn, the tenor sax.
It's so freeing to be able to roam the stage as I feel the music, rather than being chained to a mike stand. Coordinating entrances and endings are much easier as well. Wireless microphones have been a Godsend to me.
