Everyone has to deal with insurance companies at some point. Hopefully, the number of claims with an insurance provider can be kept to a minimum but if calls are necessary, it helps to have a courteous person on the other end of the phone, and that is exactly what can be expected with AMICA Insurance, a company that offers some of the best service in the insurance business. Reviewers rave about the service and they also appreciate the incredible effort by AMICA Insurance representatives to get your life back in order following a claim: "Immediate Help With Claims- You Can Count on These People", says one person who uses this service. The only small complaint made by reviewers is the fact that since AMICA is not a well- known insurance company, it is difficult to find local reps so most AMICA business will have to be conducted over the phone. But this is a small price to pay for an Insurance Company that ranks so highly in so many different aspects of the insurance experience.

Amica Insurance has handled all my property insurance for 25 years. They also offer life insurance and annuities, but I only have had experience with property/auto. Amica used to be one of the few "old fashioned" insurance companies that did business the way you mom and pop did business with their insurance agent.  Obviously size and an overinflated drive to the bottom line has changed the focus of this company dramatically.

I was living with my parents when they had a house fire (while on vacation).  Amica was there before we got back home, and had a debit card with plenty of funds to cover expenses while we lived in a hotel for several days.  Amica arranged for a furnished apartment during the clean-up process.  Service was always prompt and they anticipated several of our needs.  I have not personally needed to use my Amica policies but I have every confidence they would be just as responsive for any future event.  I find the pricing fair, and I have compared it to a number of other companies.

Used to be an independent (fee-per-file) claims adjuster ... Have work for most of the insurers reviewed here ... Amica is Clearly the Best-of-the-Best ... It usually costs 10% more to go First Class ... But not always ... Amica was just voted the Best insurance company to deal with by Oregon Collision Repair Facilities ... The Insurance Consumer Advocate Network ranks Amica # 1.

We had never heard of Amica back in 2002 when we were researching new companies and I decided to give them a chance because they gave me the best rate quote on auto insurance. Fast forward to 2008, we have 3 autos and home owners insurance with them and we have no desire to change companies! They have been fabulous. Phone support is so pleasant. Recently my husband was in an accident, which was the other drivers fault. Amica kept checking in on us wanting to know how they could help us with filing claims against the other insurance company. Have been insured by them for several years. When my car was brand new I received in traffic a cracked windshield and totally splintered sun roof.  Both were repaired fast with no elevation in premiums.  All dealings have been good. Consumer Reports gives this company the highest satisfaction.

I have had Amica for nearly 3 years and I am very pleased.  I have my car and home insured with them and have had no problems.  The biggest complaint I hear is that there is not a local office, so you have to deal with all insurance agents over the phone (most people prefer face-to-face contact).  They are much cheaper on my car insurance than several other potential insurers I looked into.

  Amica astounds me with their courtesy, extreme knowledge and prices.  They handled a major auto claim for me in three days.  I received my check in one week after the incident.  Everyone knew what the other was doing and had first hand knowledge, up to the minute. I want to thank them again for the way they do their business and their courtesy in the process!

For the 1st time since taking Amica as my auto insurer, I had reason to put in a claim this past week. The insurance adjuster was at my house the very next day and before the auto shop had ordered parts, Amica had already cut them a check! Outstanding service. Much appreciated at a time of trouble.

I have been an Amica customer my whole life and will remain so.  Their customer service and ease of use is top notch.  They never delay and run things like clockwork.  A great company to have on your side.

This company does indeed advertise - they're all over the place with their 800 number, trying to convince you to call them for their extremely low rates. HA. We, my husband and I, aren't in a high-risk age group (under 25), and we both maintain clean driving records - we're getting a great price currently from Geico and they even sent us a refund check last billing period as they'd lowered their rates!

AMICA was over 10X the price of Geico, with LESS coverage. Also, the person I spoke with on the phone seemed not to care less, about us or anything else - rude is a good way to describe them.

When I and my British husband moved back to the US from Britain, all the insurance companies wanted to treat us as though we had been driving uninsured all the time we were there, and quoting us ludicrous rates (like $2000+ per person, both of us having a perfectly clean record, to share one used Toyota Camry).  Not only did Amica offer us a reasonable rate (under $800 for the both of us), they even allowed my husband on the insurance with his British driver's license until he could get one from the state in which we were living (which he did as soon as possible, of course).  Without Amica,... read full review »

Best I have had Yet (for insurance)

I am into my second year of car insurance with Amica. I have found tha tI save more with them than with other companies. I have use Liberty Mutual and State Farm. I was very dissatisfied with both Liberyt and State farm. I also have my home owners insurance with Amica. I have not had any problems with this company. The customer service is great.

I have been with Amica for 20 years and I've ever had a problem with anything I've done with them. I've insured both my home and car with Amica. They respond quickly and fairly whenever I call and their rates are competitive.

My only experience with Amica resulted from a car accident with one of their insured drivers.  However, that experience is one I will never forget. The adjuster I dealt with was more helpful than my own insurer! Go figure!  He guided me through the process of putting in a claim against their driver and advised me on what information was needed to process that claim.  Once he had all the necessary information he processed that claim in a very short period of time.
