AARP Review Summary

Individuals over the age of 50 love AARP Insurance. Reviewers like this company for several reasons, among them the discounted insurance premiums offered to its senior clientele. Not only are the insurance rates discounted, AARP also offers a whole host of discounts on other things, like car rentals, hotels, and even certain internet service providers. “AARP Offered me Excellent Customer Care and Satisfaction” and “Over 50? Then Why not Save Money on Things?” These are just two of the positive comments offered by reviewers and the overall feeling is that AARP is a positive experience and very good Insurance Company for those entering their senior years.

You don't have to be retired to start getting benefits on many things. Why pay full price if you don't have to and if your envious of those Senior discounts then why not get them early?

If one retires one expects a considerate insurer, Liberty Mutual and AARP seem NOT to be respectful of the Retired driver, which one would have expected. There is no consideration or credit for seniority years of driving or the AARP driving course... Ironic I say?

I joined AARp three years ago when I was 50. The first thing I did was to check out the auto insurance as AARP says that they get deals. I have three cars insured with an under 25 driver on the policy. One of my cars got hit (not our fault) and when I called to open a claim, I was told that the car that was hit was not fully covered. I didn't mind because hartford didn't help me and I collected from the other driver's insurance. Just recently I called to have one of my cars towed and found that whoever does things there set up my coverage to only have one of my three cars covered for towing. I... read full review »

We slacked off a lot about getting renters insurance, so when Camp Pendleton started burning, right behind our house, we called up AARP, and they helped us out. They've got a good price, and cover just about any insurance you can think of (some that I hadn't thought of that's for sure). The workers are friendly, and handle our cases very well. Overall, if you need it covered, this is the place to go

I have used AARP for several years for our Medicare Supplemental Insurance and Prescription Part D insurance and they are very expensive.  The thing I dislike the most about AARP is that they are very left minded and they have special arrangements made with the drug companies and medicare.  AARP has been around for a long time and most people over 50 think they should have AARP membership.  After doing a lot of reading and checking, I found that they really spend a lot of money that they wouldn't have to.  I was getting my prescriptions at Walgrens and they have special prices set up with AARP. ...

It's been two years since I closed my account. Guess what, they are still sending me bills to pay on my CANCELLED membership! I've called, my family has called a total of 11 times and we've written two letters as well, where has it gotten us? NO WHERE! It's aggravating when having to deal with people like this. I don't know what to do! I've covered my butt by documenting every conversation and letter but I don't know what to do:( Any suggestions?

Anyone over 50 should compare prices. A little scary that you don't have an agent in town, however I was involved in an accident and everything was handled better than when I did have an agent in town!
