DO NOT use Debi Lilly & A Perfect Event for any wedding planning

I hired Debi Lily and A Perfect Event for wedding consultant services for my wedding and found that soon after signing her contract and giving an extremely large deposit ($3,500), that her and her team were not easily accessible to answer questions and address concerns.

Their company made poor, obvious mistakes with our wedding details and I never felt as if they were on our side when negotiating with vendors, hotels and reception venues.  They did not like when we were persistent with trying to get better deals on these.

Within a short period of time, we realized they were not the planners for us and had to cancel their services.  Their company claims to have spent a total of 9 hours working on our account (which is not even possible) and refused to give us back any of our deposit stating it was non-refundable.  The contract is not 100%,clear but states that if the contract is cancelled, you only pay for the hours worked at a rate of $175.  9 hours x $175 does not equal $3,500!!   It was bad enough I had to pay for the hours this company performed terribly for us, but then to completely swindle the rest from us was appalling.

I have since requested repeatedly to please refund our money since the contract was poorly written and open for interpretation and Debi Lilly said we could use the balance towards printables in her store.  I told her we were not interested and I wrote a negative (but truthful) review about her company on another website and she has since refused to honor that promise.  She has since ignored my multiple emails asking for a mutual resolution to this dilemma.

She may do beautiful work, I can not speak for that.  I am simply letting people know she is not an honorable person to do business with.

This posting by Mike Springer, Debi Lily's husband and business partner at A Perfect Event, is not accurate. They are upset that I decided to let people know about their unfair & unethical business practice, so they have decided to spread lies. A Perfect Event did offer for me to use the balance of my deposit towards invitations, but rescinded their offer when I wrote a truthful, negative review about them. They consider that slander, apparently. I had hired A Perfect Event for only 3 weeks before I let them go because of a mistake they made costing me to lose my venue. I have the emails to prove this. Yes, I did change the city my wedding was going to take place in, but this occurred after their mess up, which was 13 months before my wedding.

Jennifer Lazuka signed a conract with A Perfect Event and could not continue to honor her contract regarding her wedding in Chicago due to "family dynamics". The 10 line contract was very clear that the depost was non-refundable. The non-refundable deposit is how A Perfect Event (like most event companies) can hold a date for a client for over a year and turn away other clients for that date without concern of financial losses if the client event is cancelled, re-located, etc. A Perfect Event does always try to make the most of every situation and did offer that the balance of the deposit be used for invitations. That offer was retracted and the original contract enforced when Ms. Lazuka decided to arguably slander A Perfect Event by stating on different postings that A Perfect Event stole money from her or swindled her. We regret this situation and again did try to make the most of it with Ms. Lazuka and Brad of bradsdeals.com (her fiance/husband).
