88 Minutes Review Summary

Viewpoints movie buffs reach a split decision with 88 Minutes. Some feel it's a "modern psychological thriller [that] keeps your heart pounding," while others feel that star Al Pacino let them down, as they normally consider his appearance in a film "good enough reason to buy a movie ticket," such as with The Godfather series. Pacino stars in 88 Minutes as a forensic psychologist whose testimony helped put a many away, and now that the man has been scheduled to die under capital punishment, Pacino's character begins getting mysterious messages telling him he's going to die. Of the reviewers that didn't enjoy this psychological thriller, most felt it wasn't necessarily the fault of Pacino, "a really great actor and a really lousy movie."

I've liked Al Pacino ever since I saw him in Author, Author with Dyan Cannon. It was just another movie I liked a lot, but one that joins the ranks of all the other movies about writers that I coveted, way before I ever thought of making writing or even writing about movies my career. As soon as I… read full review »

Since when does Al Pacino make stinky movies? — We found ourselves asking this about 12 minutes into the longest 108 minutes of the year. — My husband and I love Al Pacino's acting, and consider him to be a good enough reason to buy a movie ticket. (This club, for me, includes Edward… read full review »

Al Pacino was pretty amazing in this movie, and we kept along with him at a pretty good speed, while he was trying to figure out who was going to kill him. This movie offers many suspects and keeps us guessing. There were a few parts that were a bit confusing… read full review »

Al has always been a favorite of mine since "THE VERDICT".  HE ADDS MORE CHARACTER TO HIS CHARACTERS.  HIS PASSION IS PROBABLY UNMATCHED.  As for the movie.... don't leave early. —… read full review »

This movie was what I expected, good. I think it could have easily had a PG13 rating with  two scenes changed  for nudity. Why do directors have to include those anyway?  I enjoyed the movie. —… read full review »

"88 minutes' is 80 minutes too long.  A major disappointment for PACINO fans.   I almost felt as if Pacino was recycling some of his former movie character's  actions and speech patterns,  and here he was just going through the motions in this role    It does not help that you can figure out the movies plot and who the villian is within 10 to 15 minutes of the movie starting.  I love Pacino and have enjoyed his work for years, but this was not his best effort.    If you must see it, Wait.    I am sure it will be… read full review »

Al Pachino is awsome in this movie (as always). He is one of my all time favorites. If you love suspense movies this is a very good movie to see. It is a movie that keeps you guessing until the end. You think it is going one way, and then it suddenly turns another way. I was fortunate enough to catch a  sneak preview of this movie. I immediately told everyone to see it the Friday it came… read full review »
