Being in the lawn and garden business for as many years as I have, I hear all kinds of requests from customers. Many of them tend to lean towards natural pest control that is safer to use.
Well I have always recommended Safer products. Especially for tender inside plants, herbs and veggies. For all my inside plants I use Safer Insecticidal soap. I raise Orchids of all varieties and I have to be very careful of what I use.
Safer insecticidal soap is very effective when it comes to getting rid of aphids, mites, white flies, mealy bugs, thrips and so much more. But this product if best effective when used with protected plants, indoor or tender plants.
I don't recommend insecticidal soaps for outside use because even though it is an excellent product and it will work outside, it just doesn't have a very long residual life. If you use it outside and it rains, its washed away. That means you spend more time going back to respray.
But to those folks who only want to use natural or organic methods, Safer insecticidal soap is the best to use. It is effective, very reasonable for the money and usually comes in a concentrated form so you an make what you want when you need it. In my greenhouse I have a few bottles made up and scattered here and there so I can use them where I need them.
So, I recommend Safer insecticidal soaps for all your indoor plants, ferns, exotics, veggies and herbs. It is a great product, easy to use and doesn't cost a lot. I also recommend it to anyone who is interested in indoor or protected plants.
