Living in a house with three cats can lead to many frustrating mornings as you are trying to get ready fast, only to find that the clothes you had hanging out have cat hair on them now. That's when it's time to turn to the only thing that can solve the problem without re-washing the clothes: a lint roller. 3M produces and sells an inexpensive lint roller that really does the job well, and which can be relied upon to stand up to the challenges of just about anything lint-like that might pop up on your clothes. We buy new lint rollers all the time, but 3M has seemed to be the best one within our budget and availability.
The 3M rollers are a pretty simple product when it boils down to it. The roller consists of a black handle that is around 5-6 inches long with grips on it to help hold on to the thing. At the end of the roller is a hole through the handle so if you decide to hang it up when its not in use. That may be a good idea if you want to keep it out in the open, and have a spare hook or nail to put it on. At the end of the handle is a roll of adhesive wrapped around a spinning spool that helps to rotate the roller when you are putting it to use. That adhesive consists of many layers (56 is what it advertises) of the sticky paper that can be used on lint.
The adhesive goes around the entire spool of the roller, and that is how you pick up (or take off) the lint, cat hair, dog hair, or any other particles that you don't want on your clothing. When you have sufficiently used up one of the adhesive layers, and trust me you will know when that happens because it can stop working all-together, you just peal off that layer at the perforation to reveal the next one. Because the layers are 100% covered by the one coming before them, they are in pristine condition when you peel it out to put to use. This way the amount of use that you put into one layer is really up to you. If you want to peel off a layer after each use that is up to you, but I get several uses out of each layer myself.
These lint rollers are sold in many locations including grocery stores, departments stores, and locations like Wal-Mart or Shopko. The ones that we use come with the really thick amount of adhesive (the 56 sheets) and measures out to about 30 feet of adhesive. Each one of the layers is 4 inches long, so you are getting a lot of surface area out of the roller each time you put it to your clothing, blankets, or even your coat. 3M is an off-shoot of the Scotch Tape company, and as such you are getting a great adhesive each time you use it. Of course this also means that they are slightly more expensive than some options, but affordable enough to be recommended over some of the other brands on the market. These 3M lint rollers have worked great on removing cat hair for me, and has made having a roller around the house a very important thing indeed.
If you are ever faced with the problem of loose hair or particles from the air on your clothing, blankets, sheets, coats, or anything else that can attract those things, this is an excellent product to have around. I highly recommend the 3M lint roller because it is so easy to work with, the spool helps the roller to rotate across your surfaces, and they last quite a while if you are trying to get the maximum benefit out of your dollar. Pick one up today, and you will find yourself quite happy with the purchase.
