It's good stuff, but I prefer Fluoridex

4

I have been using prescription fluoride toothpaste for several years now. My dentist recently stopped stocking Fluoridex and started dispensing Clinpro 5000. They are both prescription toothpastes with the same levels of fluoride. Clinpro 5000 has a consistency just like any other commercial toothpaste--it lathers up nicely in your mouth, but the taste is different than any other toothpaste I've tried. It has a vanilla mint flavor, which is sort of refreshing, but I prefer a straight mint flavor. I highly recommend a prescription fluoride toothpaste (though keep it out of the reach of children as it can cause fluorosis of the teeth if swallowed)--with regular use, it can actually reverse and heal small cavities. I had several of them that disappeared after vigilant oral hygiene and use of this toothpaste. Of course, it can only help you if your cavities are only in the enamel--once they've gone into the dentin, fluoride toothpaste can't do anything.
