Most HelpfulI am a student of history and so I was more than intrigued by the movie 300 (2006) the graphic novel retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in Greece written by Fran Miller. The year was 480 B.C., and a force of 300 Spartans from the now legendary city-state of Sparta under King Leonidas defends Greece...

Most HelpfulI give 300 a B. It's worth a watch. Really. But it's not for those that dont like gore, blood, and violence. So, if you see it, be prepared. And, if you are prepared and know what you are getting into, you may just like it.
300 recounts the 480 B.C.'s Battle of Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans took a stand against the invading Persian hordes. Led by King Leonidis they fend off legions of very freaky attackers-- which get worse and worse as time passes. While nearly the entire 2 hours focus on fighting, you find yourself cheering for these 300 heroic men that support their belief systems and...
read full review »The spouse and I watched this and can only say that was a couple hours of our life we'll never get back. The acting was so bad and the lines so over the top that it was a terribly funny film, even when it wasn't trying to be. Led to a lot of jokes around our house that began with "Spartans!" drawn out loudly with extra phlem in a bad British accent for appropriate drama.
While the imagery was interesting to watch for a short period of time, the whole overly CGI/ comic booky feel prevented us from being even the slightest bit sympathetic to the characters. Even the overly sculpted bodies...
read full review »I am not one to watch movies with war stories or all about fighting. When my husband suggested that we go see this movie, I didn't want to at all. I figured I would be sitting bored through the whole movie, but I was wrong. I enjoyed this movie immensly.I have even watched it a few times since it came out on dvd. It draws you in with the character stories and plot.
There is a lot of action, so you aren't sitting there waiting for something good to happen. Although the movie has a lot of blood and gore, it is still a great movie to watch. The story is good, the characters are well developed, and...

read full review »This movie is an absolute must see!!! I am not a lover of war movies, but the visual effects, costumes, acting, and yes love story, was perfection at it's best!
I have bought the movie and loaned it out to many friends! Gerard Butler is so what you would imagine King Leonidas to be. If only all men could be raised Spartans...LOL!
Great movie to watch with date or spouse. Wouldn't recommend to those under 17, has sexual content and nudity.
